I get what you're saying, but I don't think they should have picked Texas for the example. That would last in Texas for about ten minutes.

I think the choice of state in this context is arbitrary. It could just as easilly have been California, Idaho or New York.

The video is absolutely correct and it'll be interesting to see how the pro-war people deny it.

I like this video. :thumright: :thumleft:
I wish Ron Paul hadn't been railroaded out of the debates and such, he'd make a much better president then Obama or Romney.

When I first started watching this, I thought it was going to be about what would happen if America decided to go to war with China. Some people seem to think it's a good idea, but I don't think so. China isn't like Iraq or Afghanistan. China is a super-powerful country that is home to about one-third of the world's population. If America sends troops to invade China, they won't just try to fight a mainly defensive war like those countries in the Middle East. The Chinese would probably try to invade Hawaii and Alaska, and maybe even the west coast. There would also be a good possibility that we could lose the war and have to surrender on China's terms. It also wouldn't be a good idea to go to war with China because nearly everything we buy comes from China. The price of technology and most other goods would rise drastically if China stopped trading with us completely. Hopefully this doesn't end up happening. If America and China go to war, it will greatly interfere with our daily lives and probably turn into World War III.

I agree that it would be a poorly-made decision to ever go to war with the People's Republic of China. The only practical way (aside from using nuclear weapons) to win a war against China is to focus on not fighting a "land war." Utilizing ships would be the best option, since their fleet is still out-dated and they have only begun to take steps towards modernizing it...

The point about economic interdependence is also valid. Not only in regards to cost-effectiveness, but also cultural exchange. There are stores that carry exclusively American-made goods that are prospering in China because it is seen as a status symbol to be able to afford (prices range from two to three times what the items cost in the U.S.) products of a perceived superior quality.

With that said, I think it is utterly absurd that there are "attack ads" about how "China stole our jobs." The U.S. basically gave jobs away to countries where labor and manufacturing products were far less expensive ("outsourcing"). If given the chance to cut costs and increase productivity, almost every company would have made the same decision. After all, corporations are in it for the profits.

The economic issues that we have been having are often viewed as being a struggle between America and China. I believe that this is a struggle between the upper class, and the middle and lower classes instead. The events that are happening today will determine whether we will live in a world where the middle class thrives, or whether we will live in a world where the rich expose the poor and there is no middle class. Unless the corruption in our governments and corporations is eliminated, this will be the fate of the world. Going to war with China won't solve anything. If you want to solve our economic issues, hope for a better China and a better America. Neither nation is good nor evil. It's the rich and powerful who pull the strings of those beneath them who are evil, regardless of nationality.

In that case you might want to ask yourselves why you are allowing your governent to patrol the south china sea and to set up multiple bases on islands in asia near China - after being warned by the Chinese not to do so - those actions are already being interpreted by them as a threat.

This probably was my favorite Ron Paul ad of his campaign.

The Romney/Obama debates are coming up soon, real shame Dr. Paul isn't up there. Imagine if we actually had a real choice this election?

If America keeps doing what its doing this may as well be the future. Luckily I have brushed up on my Mandarin for such an event were to happen. It may as well be inevitable, all these needless wars and occupation of foreign lands is a waste of money and soon America will collapse and be bought out by China.
