I remember an episode of the Tonight Show where the cast (Johnny Carson, Ed McMahon, Doc Severinsen, and the production crew) did nude poses, and one of the staff members covered his junk with a loaf of Wonder Bread.

Dentists and insulin producers the world over must be in a panic by now.

I did the "Wonder Bread pose" I just mentioned upon hearing the news. Incidentally, I did the same pose after hearing that Johnny Carson had died.

And in one swoop the chemical industry in the United States receives a blow from which it will never recover.

Have you ever read the ingredient list of a Twinkie, Ding Dong or Hostess Pie?

There's a recent Jay Leno where he orders an ancient Twinkie off E-bay amd then eats it.
It was still moist.Archeologists will be digging them up eons from now and wondering how primitive man survived eating such stuff.

Their twinkies were the best. Now I have to deal with crappy generic brands that don't taste the same.

Blame the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union who kept refusing to settle the contract. True, they would have been working for lower wages and fewer benefits, but at least they would have been working!

By Monday (Nov. 12, 2012), three plants had already been shut down, with a loss of 627 jobs. On Wednesday, Hostess announced that it would be forced to cease all operations and liquidate if enough employees did not return to work by close of business on Thursday. Now 18,000 people are out of work because their stubbornness and pride forced Hostess to shut down all operations and sell all company assets.

The company’s private equity owners will likely get nothing out of this because their suppliers and utility providers must be paid before dividends can be distributed.

The striking workers will likely get nothing because they haven't been working to earn any pay.

The union leaders are laughing into their sleeves because they've already been paid, and they can absolve themselves from blame by claiming that they were only doing what their members voted for them to do.

The next time I see a "Live Better / Work Union" bumper sticker, I'm gonna flip it off and keep on driving.

@ Fnord

There was more than one Union involved in this, however to be fair to the other Union (Teamsters), they were actually trying to get the Baker's union to stop throwing their little temper tantrum.
