Here is Chen Lizra, performing a Reggaeton

Youtube Description wrote:
Owner Chen Lizra together with part of the Latidos performance team - Shannon Fitzgerald and Leanne Soon, performed a Reggaeton piece that Chen Lizra choreographed for the event to Reggaeton artists Lester....The theme of the song was a video clip production which reflected in the sexiness as it is in Cuba and no holding back....

A lot of the dance performances that come from Latin America are MUCH to hot for the Puritanical-Feminist North Americans to handle.

For example,

And, do your own search for Angelina Anderson, Silvina Escudero, and especially Cinthia Fernandez--three ladies who dance on Bailando por un Sueño--the Argentine version of our Dancing with the Stars. Although they appear on prime-time television in South America, their performances are MUCH too sexy for our moderators' virgin eyes.

One female Latin American performer who successfully brought her sexiness to North America is Shakira

Sexiness is standard fare in Latin America, and a legitimate part of their culture.

I appreciate the sexiness of Latin culture, and the Latin dichotomy between women and men, which Puritanism and Feminism have erased from the Anglosphere. Also, the apparent freedom that they have just to flirt easily with each other, without getting so uptight about it.

i don't really get the point of all that - it all looks like silly games to me. as an aspie feminist who is a "straight shooter", i like the freedom of being able to be straightforward about my own desires and attractions, without feeling constrained by such elaborate games or gender roles. there is no place for someone like me in a system like that.

your characterisation of feminism is not shared by many (if any) feminists who post here, ArrantPariah. you're getting a bit hysterical with your posts like this.

A vote for Anglophone North American culture, then. Fair enough.

Vote for neither. Prefer texting style. Can't do games or subtle stuff, I suck at it.

no, i don't play by the rules of either culture, but i was just addressing the Latin-American model specifically in my post as it was unfamiliar to me. the North American model is still quite gendered, which doesn't work for me.

Just get straight to the point and negotiate for coitus, and bypass the rituals demanded by social convention? Reminds me of a song.

The one time I went to a casino some man plopped down on the bar stool next to me and asked"Do you like hot, dirty, sex?" I was not impressed,no way a remark like that will get you anywhere with me.Seems rather vulgar and crude. And even if he had looked like Johnny Depp, would have made no difference,no class.

I'm guessing that Filipinas and other Asians might be more content with us, and that Latinas might find us too boring, given our lack of interest in dancing and partying.

possibly but filipinas are the exception in that culturally at least, they are closer to Spain and Latin America than they are to the rest of Asia.

I would probably get arrested if I tried that. I'll bet the procedure works better for the ladies.

I think that you are right. It is a very Catholic country, but, for some odd reason, the Spaniards didn't really promote their language there.

I'm not sure what to add to this topic - as a girl I miss the openness and attitude of appreciation that Cubans have and are so open with, both the men and the women - piropos are a daily occurrence there if you're out and about. Sometimes you will get a guy following you a down the street a bit of the way just because he's interested (which is actually ok there - it's safe and not a problem - not something to be feared like here). I miss the directness - at least I know when a latino is hitting on me.

I must admit that I suck at the whole "mating dance" and everything, I fail pretty epically at it.
But as a friend of mine said recently, latinas love to be pursued and romanced properly, and latinos love to hunt and chase - if you ruin it for them then you just sucked all the fun out of it.

It's not really "sexinesss" per say though. We just don't reject human sexuality as a part of the human and the social experience, nor do we view it as negative or bad - and as a result we are much more open about it in general society, especially the more liberal latin cultures such as Cuba or Brazil. The more traditional cultures will be more measured in their approach.

Rumba is nothing - wait until you see guaguancó done properly group style.
Actually the last time Cubans were in town on tour and taught a class "on the side" (yes - illegal for Cubans on tour) the gringos were too embarrassed to even attempt to participate in the guaguancó. As in wouldn't even try.

And it's very true on Cuban body image. Since they have no "ideal" forced down their throats by the media, everyone is very accepting of body shape and size. They have nowhere near the endemic levels of eating disorders, body dsymorphic disorder and generally negative attitude to the human body that you find here.

Definitely. I'm Hispanic (half Mexican half Salvadorian) and although, in my experience, Hispanic culture tends to be less judgemental and materialistic (which I like), there is also a lot of emphasis on being macho and socially capable in general. It's not uncommon for groups of friends to randomly go to someone's house without an invitation and start a party, whereas in Anglo culture it would be very rude not to call first. Latin people tend to be very boisterous when they talk and touch each other a lot, which is overwhelming for an aspie. As stressful as an American party can be for us, it's nothing compared to a Hispanic party. On more than one occasion I've had to rudely leave in the middle of conversation because it was just too stressful.

Oh, and you have to know how to dance, and dance often. No excuses.

So true on the no excuses! Unless you are too drunk to stand basically.

Most of the above suits me fine since I actually love touch, the music and the dancing (and dancing gets me out of conversations except for the general initial small talk) but I can see how it would be incredibly stressful for an aspie for who those things were stressful - instead of calming and stims.

I'm latino and you are correct. The spanish-speaking culture is full of so much emotional nuance, levels of flirting and body language 'signs' its a nightmare for someone with AS to judge whether the girl is flirty, telling you to go away in a subtle way or 'playing hard to get' .

Mind games go ballistic in spanish. I hate it so much.
