Well, yes, but just to, errr...,ummm....., improve my Spanish! Yes, that's it!

Really, I would never force myself to watch shows like Univision's Caliente

unless it meant a chance to listen to a bit of Spanish. I would MUCH prefer to watch Morris dancing.

Watching Morris dancing results in fewer trips to the bathroom for me.

I'm guessing that Filipinas and other Asians might be more content with us, and that Latinas might find us too boring, given our lack of interest in dancing and partying.

possibly but filipinas are the exception in that culturally at least, they are closer to Spain and Latin America than they are to the rest of Asia.

In the Philippines, though, you aren't going to see anyone dancing anything that comes close to the guaguancó, unless you go to a go-go bar, upon which Filipinos generally look down.

Here is their national dance: the Tinikling

Sometimes I can't help but wonder whether ArrantPariah has some sort of special interest in Latino culture

^^^^^Can't really blame him,the ladies and men are hot!
My daughter was dating a man from Brazil, she said he was such a gentleman and that he would open doors for her and treated her with respect and how gracious he was.She was quite smitten by him.
I think AP wants an companera

How is it that you knew about this but I didn't?

It is a VERY long drive from the Northern states.

It looks to be something of a tradition for Texas boys.

It's not really "sexinesss" per say though. We just don't reject human sexuality as a part of the human and the social experience, nor do we view it as negative or bad - and as a result we are much more open about it in general society, especially the more liberal latin cultures such as Cuba or Brazil. The more traditional cultures will be more measured in their approach.

The Chicago area has lots and lots of Mexicans, who, I think, are among the more Conservative latinos/hispanics.

You hear a lot of the Ranchera music.

Vicente Fernandez

Los Tigres del Norte

I think that their main dance is the Cumbia

One the one hand, Mexican parents seem to be rather strict with their daughters. On the other hand, a lot of Mexican girls seem to have a tendency to become grandmothers by about the age of 30.

Mexican girls tend to be a bit on the chubby side. Some South American countries, like Colombia and Venezuela, dominate international beauty pageants.

In North America, most of us consider beauty pageants to be silly--most of the audience for the Miss America shows is women. In some South American countries, they seem to take la belleza quite seriously.

Hey! Cumbia is a Colombian dance! :P

Vicente and los Tigres del Norte are kinda big with older people. Even I know some of the lyrics of some of their songs, and Tigres have an especially distinctive musical style and choice of topic for their lyrics. They aren't particularly sexy though.

I recently watched a movie called Whore's Glory

The last third of the movie deals with executive ejaculatory administrators in Reynosa--another Mexican border town, but I don't remember seeing any Gringos in that part of the movie.

Here is a Merengue

That originates in Colombia, doesn't it? (Yes, I know the dancers are Argentines).

And, here is Cuba's Azúcar lady, Celia Cruz, with "La Negra Tiene Tumbao."

Even when she was old, she exuded sexiness.
