Thanks for the heads-up.

Now, what do you intend to do about it?

Probably going to eat some more BBQ and thank my government overlords for having my interests at heart.

Have you looked into Spread Spectrum Technology?

There's also Tor, which allows for better anonymity online.

Haven't they learned by now that internet users won't stand for this crap?

Says President Obama's committed to veto. If it gets overridden anyway or he fails to, that's it for me and the web. I need to get outside more anyway. Paranoia can push anything through these days.

I think Obama said the same thing about the NDAA, but he signed it anyway.

So, the Second Amendment is so vital that we can't even have tighter background checks to make sure we keep guns out of the hands of convicted felons, but the First Amendment doesn't count if the communications are electronic in nature?

I doubt this will survive challenges based on HIPAA legislation.

The House passes anything that moves.

The Senate, however, is much different.

A question doing the rounds: Did they use the situation in Boston as a distraction to pass this?

I lean towards yes, they are opportunistic politicians, and they don't really care about looking unsympathetic.

Hollywood will push this very hard, Silicon Valley will either fight back or be bought. As for the internet, well the internet will definitely react in a very loud way.

Does this mean that the US government have to allow all their electronic records to be read by anyone who wants to? Or maybe that that will happen, whether they want it to or not...
