It doesn't seem to surprising. I mean, presidents have worn make up for a long time. If they didn't they would easily suffer compared to their other makeup wearing presidential candidates.

You've never worked with film have you? You have to wear makeup, or you look like crap.

What is the point of that? That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen. ANY man (or woman for that matter) who appears on tv on purpose has to go through something like that. He didn't look very happy about it, but that's the price you have to pay for being in the public eye.

Yeah, the lighting washes you out, so they have to add a ton of color to balance it out. Not that I am by any means a fan of Edwards, as I think he is a pretentious, hypocritical socialist, but whatever. The video is not disturbing. What IS disturbing is the thought that he will probably be a candidate for president/vice president with Obama...and then we're all in for some trouble.

The guy in the first video? The presidential candidate in the first "disturbing video" was John Edwards. John McCain is older looking than that.

My mother used to have a lot of respect for John, but she doesn't anymore.

Said his name was Ron Paul, he sounds like a better candidate than most of the current people for president in my book.

It's true that tv can make or break them, and news bites; people make snap decisions and your whole career is riding on a lock of your hair sticking up. But that one went on so very long that I started to laugh and couldn't stop.

Most politicians have to put on makeup. Reagan was apparently a rare example of someone who didn't. Nixon decided not to in 1960 in his famous televised debate and it cost him the election.

After Nixon vs. Kennedy, looking good on color TV became essential for presidential candidates.

What Democrat do you not fear? Just be honest, I mean, I am sure that you fear Hillary as her rhetoric downright scares people with its populism, there is even an analysis at Skeptical Optimist on a bit she said about foreign held debt that says if her ideas were put in place that it would kill the US economy, you fear Edwards, and it seems you also fear Obama. So really, what Democrat do you not fear?
