I own several hand guns and rifles. I haven't taken them out in 5 years or so.

KNIVES, SWORDS, TOMAHAWKS, PICKAXES, plus the good ol' break barrel.
The first gun I shot was a side by side 12 gauge, my first rifle was a .22 lr with a bolt that loaded through the stock. To this day, my greatest joy and utmost respect is given to break barrels, and bolt actions. A man never forgets his first time shooting a gun.

But for me, I'd only consider owning like 3 guns, a shotgun, a rifle, and a revolver.

Knives and Tomahawks are what's in for me.

Before we had our 2nd amendment rights severely infringed upon in the socialist state of Maryland, October 1 2013, the 2 questions regarding mental health were

Have you ever spent more then 30 consecutive days in any medical institution for treatment of a mental disorder or disorders? And question 8
have you ever been adjudicated mentally defective or have you been committed to a mental institution?
Number 12, "shortened"
Did you answer yes to above, if so you are prohibited from purchasing / possessing a regulated firearm, if you currently possess contact Maryland police,
If I had to answer a yes to any of the questions I would sell it to a shop and get money for it instead of giving it to the police to be destroyed with no payment for it and possible jail time, for not knowing.

A friends wife who is schizophrenic was able to buy a pistol years ago with a dr note.

No one knows how the new law will work, it might be implemented like the marijuana tax stamp act of 1935, may have wrong year, required a tax stamp but no office to provide it was ever created, some hippies finally made a big enough fuss, and i think it was repealed and marajuana made illegal, late 60's.
The current fear in Maryland is the new law requires training proficiency license for each purchase, mandatory insurance, plus fees all having to be renewed every 4 years, the bill is difficult to read, very long, and no one seems to have been able to interpret it, it is rumored that any mental condition especially PTSD will be used to prevent ownership,
Gov fears retired military, especially ex snipers, our soldiers risked their lives for this nation and it repays them by making or attempting to make it difficult or impossible to exercise their 2 nd amendment rights.

My goal is to get out of this state, and move to one that doesn't attempt to squeeze everything they can out of its citizens while attempting to remove their constitutional rights. In any way they can, they even tax us for rain.
If you value your savings, income, property, and freedom, never vote for Martin OMalley, Maryland's socialist governor, for any office / position, ever. Government or non government.

In the UK Hunting permits can be purchased through the Post Office.
There's no restriction against people with AS doing this.

I just recently bought my first gun out of necessity of protecting my livestock after my whole life of having always said I don't ever want a gun. It's a little Marlin Model 25n, a bolt action .22.

Lots of people hunt coyotes with .22s. My targets are fox, coyote, possums mostly and my .22 will do the job just fine. I appreciate your concern though but if you do research lots of people really do hunt coyote with .22s.

I mean a .22. It's really not uncommon for people to hunt coyote with a .22. It's illegal at least in my state and I definitely don't recommend it as I feel it's unethical but I've even heard of people taking down deer and bears with .22s, it's all about knowing where to shoot and being close.
I'm not claiming to know everything about this subject but I know that much. Google "Coyote .22" and read some stories about people hunting them.

I'm not really allowed to possess guns as I don't have my PAL at all, but my dad has a .22, 9mm, .17 Rim Mag iirc, and we have a Shotgun

I also have a Pellet gun, but again, technically not mine
