A little info to get you up to speed, NAFTA was the North American Free Trade Agreement. If you go to the site you will see that TPP is also a trade agreement except with broader powers. *
Misdirection (see that site also) is a magic technique where the magician distracts the audience. Similarly, the government shutdown distracted the public from TPP.
* When someone says "X" is like "Y" on steroids, the meaning is that X is similar to Y except stronger and more intimidating.

I am perfectly aware of what NAFTA is, thank you. And I know how to click on a link.

Now, what is your point? How can you have that user name and be so inept at communicating your message?

I make the following claim:

The US government shutdown was not a partisan struggle between ideological adversaries in the US House of Representatives, The US Senate and The US Presidency.

It was a distraction designed to avert attention from the negotiation about the US participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (Henceforth described as the TPP), an organization comprising of of Brunei, Chile, New Zealand and Singapore at its inception.

Can’t you see that the above statement is saying that the government shutdown was a misdirection to slip in NAFTA on steroids? My dad ( a retired English professor) told me when I was very young that when writing one must take the reader by the hand and assume that he knows nothing. But this is ridiculous!
But anyway, the important fact ( and why I titled the thread " NAFTA on steroids") is that TPP is VERY dangerous and represents the marginalization of representative government and the hegemony * of international corporations.

Since you claim that the above statements do not make any sense to you… Well I will not make it any more elementary as that would be an insult to WP readers.
Unfortunately, you believe that you look smart by using baseless ad hominems. You also think that trying to look smart is more important than a subject (TPP) that truly has important consequences.
Anyway, you do have a habit of avoiding issues that confuse you by making personal attacks.

I agree! TPP will suck the life out of the internet. A highly creative force that promotes the free exchange of ideas and innovation will become a corporate controlled zombie. It will be about as interesting as reality TV.
