It's been scientifically proven that Buddhist meditation can improve body metabolism considerably. In one test, monks subjected to extreme cold were actually able to generate body heat and to dry wet sheets that were placed on them.
The gamma waves as well as the infrasonic waves produced by Buddhist meditators is usually many times higher than found in the average person.
A practice known as Falun Dafa can be used to heal illnesses.
I am not advocating Buddhism or attemting to suggest that everyone should try this, but found the article interesting.

 You might want to edit your post and correct "gamma rays" for "gamma waves" they are entirely different things. Gamma waves are a type of brain wave and gamma rays are high energy photons associated with highly radioactive matter. When I'm meditating I don't glow in the dark.

Other than that; yes, Buddhist meditation is know to have multiple benefits.

You're just not trying hard enough then. :P

Seriously though, I need to get back to my meditation. I always feel calmer and more together when I actually sit and do it. I just need to get back into the habit.

Thanks for the interesting articles guys.
