So I have noticed a GOP minority on this forum so I just wanted to make a safe place for republicans to express their beliefs as well as a place for liberals to discover that us republicans aren't just "rich old white guys" and we come from all walks if life

"What is your political affiliation?"

None of the above.

There's a difference between liking the Republican Party and being conservative.

Im kinda conservative but the Republican party isn't any good.

How so? I would not describe myself as conservative, so I'd be curious to know how everyone is conservative.

I went with independent since I do not really agree with any current political parties I know of.

My political affiliation of record is officially "No Political Affiliation", even though my views are mostly in agreement with Libertarianism.

Strange thing about political affiliation ... if your political opinion differs on even one point (immigration, for instance) from the Official Party Line, then you are considered to not be a "real" member of that political party.

For example, I believe that illegal immigrants and all of their "anchor babies" (their children born in this country) should be deported back to where they came from. According to some, this means that I am not a "real" Libertarian ... nor even a "real" human being. Oh, puh-leez ...

Conservative means many things. I was referring to conservative within the british philosophical tradition, which is an approach towards the rate of change in society. A conservative opposes revolutionary change on the basis that they think aspects of the current order are worth preserving, and is generally opposed to social crises and upheavals that are a byproduct of revolutionary change.

I don't know anyone that's thrilled with where it looks like the dominant manifestations of revolutionary change are taking us apart from psychopathic trans-humanists and crazy optimists like Kurzweil.

Not entirely sure I oppose that though unless you mean specifically violent revolution in which case, I'd be more inclined to oppose it. But yeah that does sound different than what conservative refers to in the U.S seems like it has anything to do with change in society but rather preventing change in society.

The (D) party has become so consistently vicious that I feel obliged to vote against them whenever possible, and that means filling in circles next to a lot of (R)s. However, I still think of the GOP as Them and not Us.

I see today's Republican Party as comprising three overlapping, clashing factions: mainstream neocons, not really distinguishable from FDR Democrats; social/religious conservatives; libertarians and constitutionalists. As an Objectivist my sympathies are with the third group, but unfortunately nearly all GOP politicians belong to the first or second. :(

You have to update your registration when you move, I didn't. I guess you could say I'm not registered but technically they still have me on file, just in at a place I don't live. I believe it would be against the law for me to go back and vote there too but if I were to move back to the same house I'd be fine. Here in Arizona you can declare yourself a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, independent, Americans Elect, or no preference stated. I picked independent, in this state being an independent allows you to vote in either parties primary. Hey get off my back! :P

Mostly agree with the above but I would say basically mostly confused and depressed
My issue with the Tea Party/American version of Libertarianism/individualism while they claim to want freedom from government oppression it usually means freedom to make money only. They (I'm including the Paul's)have no compunction about the government getting involved in the most personal matters, what you do with your body. Creating a true individualist society means not only acceptance of most ruthless capitalism and me me me me. It would mean creating a society that would allow and celebrate people being themselves no matter how different. Lots of seeing conspiracies everywhere and I say that as a 9/11 truther myself.

Basically the way I look at the progressives for the most part there philosophy revolves around if you are not progressive you are dumber then me and mostly likely some sort of "ist" (racist, misogynist etc). Because of that you need to be controlled including what words you use and shamed if you disagree with us. It has evolved so far from liberalism of the 60's as to be unrecognizable. Then they might have been naive but it was really about uplifting the poor AND MIDDLE CLASS.

Basically in different ways if not actual hate groups so blinded by hate they might as well be.

Registered democrat, but I tend to be disliked by both parties due to falling on either side depending on the issue/policy.

I vote Democrat because the Socialist parties don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of getting elected to anything.
