Really? There is a church on virtually every block of every city and town in this country. Tell me again how religion isn't being jammed down our throats. Now they want to further perpetuate the lie that we were founded on Christian religious beliefs.

If Federal Funding is used for this, expect lawsuits. MANY lawsuits. Let Steve Green build a National Hobby Lobby/ Bible museum on his own land. Building such a museum on Federal property, especially in D.C. would be in violation of the First Amendment.

America is arguably becoming more Christian with the large inflow of South/Central Americans and Mexicans who are primarily Christian. (note: However, the number of "non-affiliated' is rising too. It is not clear which group is rising faster, since the "undocumented" are primary Hispanics, and if they are granted citizenship then that may be a huge boost in religious adherents).

"Latinos and Hispanics are predominantly Christian in the United States. Specifically, they are most often Roman Catholic".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christiani ... _Americans

Pew research:
"7/10 Hispanics say religion is important in their lives" and "immigrant Hispanics are more likely to feel religion is important (69% compared to native Americans (54%))

Democrats may eventually have to taper their criticism of religious people as they may be offending a large % of their constituency.

..but America was not founded on Christian beliefs, and any monument or museum to the Bible should be built on private land with private or donated money.

and BTW, America is also becoming more ignorant, especially about religion, which is also back up by Pew polls.

The linked article doesn't say that the "museum" will be ON the National Mall, but NEAR it, a couple blocks away. It also says that Mr. Green has already purchased a building to hold the museum. Since he owns the building, it apparently is not ON federal property. Therefore, it is legal. If a rich guy were to buy a building in DC and erect a museum to Zeus or Buddha or the Flying Spaghetti Monster, he could legally do so, as long as he owned the building, and the Feds had no stake in the land/building. Contrary to what some believe, most land in DC is privately owned. The Feds own most of the land downtown, where the agencies and the politicians are, but the farther you get from the Mall the more private ownership you find. Even then some of the land close to downtown is private.
