http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/cms/ Oh my goodness I cant believe people still think the world is flat its just as bad as those Young Earth Creationists with their creation museum http://creationmuseum.org/about/ all a waste of money. What next a Hollow Earth Society?......egads theres one as well http://www.astralsociety.net/hollow-earth-theory/ I am probably going to considered a jerk for saying this but these have got to be the stupidest people to ever walk the Earth.

one of my favorite quotes:

"Only two things are infinite, the Universe, and Human Stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."

Actually, the flat-earth theory is a highly fascinating exercise in contrarian thought. These people are not as stupid as they are letting on. They are actually pretty bright. Here is a charming quote from one of their discussion boards:

"If the earth is infinite, then why can I throw a ball in one direction and then catch it minutes later from the opposite direction?"
---rottingroom

You know...throwing the ball up and then catching it as it comes down. Do you get it? It's a cute bit of double-entendre. Anyway, these intellectual exercises are extremely useful for self-development.

The flat-earth people may not all be stupid, but I see nothing intelligent coming from those creationists; the ones who believe people rode dinosaurs on saddles and other such BS. Intellectual exercises are great, but you won't find that in a corporate religion.

Well, the Young Earthers just have their heads in the sand, and that's all there is to it.

I work with a guy who believes the world is flat. He is not stupid by any means. He just believes what he wants to believe and doesn't care about facts. Maybe ignorant is a better word for him.

I get the impression that the flat earthers are all tongue-in-cheek.

The YEC's, in contrast, are as serious as you can get, and have created a whole industry out of evolution denying.

I like the way you did that, sneaking Global Warming in with the cranky stuff, as Global Warming is one of the things we are told we have to believe, I wonder how many of the obedient will notice?

The last one in particular demonstrates the success of California's laws, and it's a pretty good read.
