The reason we have poverty in the U.S. is because there are poor people here.

If we could make them go away, poverty would cease forthwith.

We should change the tablet on the Statue of Liberty.

To the Poor: Go elsewhere.

Yep, just sweep them under the carpet, then no one will have to look at all that horrible suffering.

Out of sight, out of mind.

No. Just not fed.

Give a hungry man a fish you have fed him for the day.
Ignore his hunger and starvation will take him and his problems out of your hair.

Yes. But not for long. I got busy and found work.

Poverty is a great incentive to become productive. It is get busy or die. That is an energizing choice.

If someone is dead via being in poverty then its pointless getting busy. So its the issue of how to stop death via poverty?
Get busy or die is, just right wing Social Darwinistic BS!! Being busy can also kill, have you every hear of work life balance?

If some one can get busy and work, then he won't die. And if he can't and does die then we don't have him as a burden anymore. It is not bullsh*t. It is simply a rational incentive to be productive. The first step is to eliminate minimum wages so there is some incentive to hire the dregs of humanity. It might even transform them into human beings.

Have you honestly never heard the term "working poor"? Lots of poor people have jobs. But their jobs pay less than they need.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appalachia ... Appalachia
Quote:
While endowed with abundant natural resources, Appalachia has long struggled with poverty. In the early 20th century, large-scale logging and coal mining firms brought wage-paying jobs and modern amenities to Appalachia, but by the 1960s the region had failed to capitalize on any long-term benefits from these two industries. Beginning in the 1930s, the federal government sought to alleviate poverty in the Appalachian region with a series of New Deal initiatives, such as the construction of dams to provide cheap electricity and the implementation of better farming practices. In 1965, the Appalachian Regional Commission was created to further alleviate poverty in the region, mainly by diversifying the region's economy and helping to provide better health care and educational opportunities to the region's inhabitants. By 1990, Appalachia had largely joined the economic mainstream, but still lagged behind the rest of the nation in most economic indicators.

The true reason we have poverty is due to the Federal Reserve Act of 1913.

"The few who understand the system, will either be so interested from it's profits or so dependant on it's favors, that there will be no opposition from that class." — Rothschild Brothers of London, 1863

"The financial system has been turned over to the Federal Reserve Board. That Board as ministers the finance system by authority of a purely profiteering group. The system is Private, conducted for the sole purpose of obtaining the greatest possible profits from the use of other people's money" -- Charles A. Lindbergh Sr., 1923

"A great industrial nation is controlled by it's system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the world--no longer a government of free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of small groups of dominant men." — President Woodrow Wilson

It is better than being the non-working poor, yes?

And many are in poverty because they are either too stupid or too lazy to consider alternatives.
