I'm not a registered Republican (quite the contrary, I'm Green as the grass), but if America's going to spend the next several years devolving into a 'Mad Max'-ian dystopian wasteland, I really can't think of any better cartoon villain to place at the center than Donald Trump. Let's just hope that he won't wear the same kind of leather bondage gear. 8O

I'm voting Chapo Guzman, contingent on him liquidating the entire GOP field, plus Hillary. I support hardworking immigrants who rise to lead multinational businesses, plus the whole mass murder thing is good training for a US president.

If POWs are losers then those who actually died combat are even worse losers (the idea in war is to kill, not be killed after all). So let's just get rid of Arlington Cemetery. Pave it over for a Walmart.

On the contrary! Trump would look wonderfully ridiculous in leather panties and a hockey mask, with a guy with a Mohawk calling him "The Ayatollah of Rock-'n-Rolla!" at the top of his lungs.

Joke's on you, Walmart already tried to build a Walmart on part of the Gettysburg battlefield a while back.

I quit the Republican party. Its not even conservative anymore. Not that they were conservative in their origins, considering its the party of Lincoln.

Actually the Republicans are NEOCONSERVATIVE (the ideology of Reagan, Thatcher, and Bush II) now, which is the extreme radical version of true conservatism.
The moderates are holding the party back by working with EMPEROR OBAMA now, betraying the party.
Those damn traitorous moderates also refused to fall into line and compromised with DEMOCRATS AND LIBERALS!!
Conservatives keep telling me Fox News tells the truth!!

What was wrong with Lincoln?

He was a dirty liberal, who used the military to destroy any state who stood up for states rights making it the bloodiest war in U.S. history all because he wanted to strip states of their rights under the constitution.
He also incorporated the war on capitalism into his war of Northern Aggression/States Rights destroying the capitalist institution of slavery for socialist values, which he imposed upon the country who did not want them.

He also forced the liberal amendments (13, 14 and 15 amendments) on the population, while passing the first income tax, creating the IRS, Department of Education (first one) and other agencies to lead reconstruction and give jobs to undeserving peoples in the country who did not earn them.

That is the current conservative/neoconservative view of Lincoln from what I've been told by conservatives.

Again, what's wrong with Lincoln?
The Civil War, not the War of Northern Aggression, was not about states rights, unless you're talking about states having the right to enslave other human beings. Lincoln had taken an oath to protect America against enemies both foreign and domestic, and he did just that. If anyone was responsible for the bloodiest war in American history, it was the wealthy plantation owners who had started the war in order to keep their cash cow of slavery alive, when they were certain Lincoln was going to end slavery. The irony was, had they not seceded, Lincoln probably would not have touched slavery, regardless of how appalled by it that he was.
And the fact is, the Confederacy allowed for the ownership of slavery (in fact, their constitution said no state could disallow slavery), whereas the Union ended it. The right side clearly won.

I gave you the reason why conservatives and others don't like Lincoln. It's all subjective.
The South calls U.S. Civil War formally the War of Northern Aggression and also nicked named it Lincoln's war.
The Civil War is the Northern name for the war.
The South also teaches what I said in my previous post, in school and text books.

The war didn't become about slavery until Lincoln and the unionists needed a new cause to galvanize the North to keep the war going and to give it meaning.
The North by the end of 1862 grew tired of the war causing public support to swing against it in favor of letting the South go and forcing Lincoln and his party out of office for failing to keep the union together.
Making the war about slavery, unified the North in support of ending slavery through defeating the South.
Before then it was about states rights, which included the right to practice slavery.
This is why the North submitted the Corwin Amendment for ratification in 1861 to preserve the union.
Said amendment would have barred congress from abolishing and regulating slavery, leaving the matter to each state.

in 1862 Lincoln and Congress gave the South one last peace offering in the form of a constitutional amendment that would end the buying of new slaves, while letting slavery continue until 1900.
The South obviously said NO, because Westminster was on the verge of recognizing the CSA and sending their military.
The vote at Westminster was repeatedly delayed and eventually tabled due to a political schism (It was on the BBC World tonight).
If Westminster would have acted, the plan was to destroy the North to punish them for causing economic turmoil in the UK.

After the South rejected the peace offering, Lincoln responded with the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st, 1863 merging Abolitionist Movement with the war, thus swinging public opinion into backing the war again.

The point is the North has always hailed Lincoln as a national hero, while the South still hates him.

I suggest you watch Abolitionists, which is 3 part film series from PBS.

^^^
Sure, the Union wasn't originally fighting to end slavery, but the Confederacy clearly was fighting to preserve it. This fact is obvious in the declarations of war issued by each seceding state, as well as by the Confederate constitution. The Confederate Vice President made it abundantly clear that the war was being fought to keep slavery and white supremacy alive. Regardless of the north's motives for ending slavery, the fact remains that because they did, they were on the right side.
And the south can believe anything they want about the Civil War, and about Lincoln, but that doesn't necessarily make it true.
By the way, OliveOilMom, who regularly posts on WP, is herself a proud southerner, but doesn't hold to that revisionist nonsense making Lincoln and the Union the bad guys.

Sure, why not. Immigrants, poor people, and POW's don't have some magical lock on non-loserdom that the rest of us aren't privy to.
