Sounds like your buying into the " The Founding Fathers were Deists" mythology. Actually, most were mainstream Christians of one form or another. They chose terms like "Divine Providence" and "Creator" because then, like now, there is no real agreement on how to refer to God. As for what my political beliefs are, I define myself as a conservative with libertarian leanings, not as a left winger or a right winger.

While the notion that the founders all being Deists has probably been overstated, the fact remains, many of them clearly were, though there were also plenty of what we would term mainline Christians among them. The notion that they were fundamentalist Christians is a modern fundie myth.

I'm left-wing. I support the UK Labour party even though they're not quite as left-wing as I'd like. That may change if Jeremy Corbyn becomes leader.

Jeremy Corbin strikes me as a candidate for BNP, never mind labour. I'm sick of all of them, at least with Gordon BROWN you could have a laugh at the Torries. Nowadays, we can't even get a decent female m.p.
The one I really would like to see though, is Owen Jones.

Not a fan of conservatives, and that's putting it lightly.

Left wing or right wing is a false dichotomy. Rise above it.

I consider myself a social liberal but a fiscal conservative. Perhaps that makes me an ultra-moderate?

I know the top vid was with old mooner in it, but Owen Jones is more than just a journalist, he's the moonwalker of British politics who serve little purpose but to patronise,.he freshens it all up. Notice Will Self talking to us like we're meat on a barbed wire fence, no, that would be you sitting on the barricades taking yourself down, flinging yourself into the fire.

I preferred G. Brown, but to him we were all just bigots. Farage is key to all these debates. Unite us.

I think it's a very useful dichotomy for delineating people who want to preserve or strengthen existing relations of economic and political power (right) from those who want to extend said power to more people (left).

In the US there is a Civil Libertarian party which I am registered with. Also in the US special needs voters like myself get to go to the polls in person even if it's supposed to be an "all-mail" election (i.e.midterm). Due to my SPD they let me cast my votes by punching buttons at an electronic machine instead of having to mark a paper ballot.
