Wahhabism is too radical, in my opinion. That's the religion of Saudi Arabia. Not a bad country--but the religion is too conservative.

We can't choose for you. You have to make your own choice.

If it were I looking at one branch of Islam or the other, I'd pick the side taught by Iman Gulen, as it's much more progressive in it's dealings with other faiths and peoples, while Wahhabism is known for it's ugly, fundamentalist side, with it's ties to Islamic extremism. But I'm not you, and I'm not looking into Islam.

I had the impression that Wahhabism is the sect of Sunni Islam from which the ideologies of, the Taliban, Al Queda, and ISIS, evolved.

So I can't claim that I am not a fan of Wahhabism.

Clicking your link just now is the first time I have ever heard of Gulenism.
Sounds like an interesting development on the World scene.

Cant tell you what to think and do. But if I were you I would go with Gulenism, or something like it.

None, unless you want to commit cognitive suicide. Greek philosophy if you want a functioning brain.

I don't know a ton about Gulenism, skimming thru I see it is from Turkey and more moderate so I guess if you had to choose between the two. I don't understand why a Wahhabi would want to live in the West, you seem like a pretty impressionable guy so I really suggest staying away from potential extremists unless you want to move to Saudi Arabia or something.

The Gulen movement definitely looks superior.

Have you considered Rotary or Masonry?

Neither, but Wahhabism is about as bad as it gets.

Be independent, reformist.

Purpose and structure comes from self-discipline, and you own moral constitution.

Life is what you make of it. Intrinsic meaning, is relative.

I don't feel like you are moving in the right direction as you are thinking that religion will give you some sense of structure, but really, it will just warp your mind. Focus on more intellectual pursuits, like studying biology or chemistry.

Plus, you can create your own structure without having someone tell you what is right or wrong to do in every aspect of your life.

And, I agree with mostly everyone else. Even people in the Islamic world seem to feel that The Wahabist religion of Saudia Arabia is too conservative and dangerous.

That's the best advice I've seen today.

If you want my advice, go your way. It's a much more fulfilling existence than being a worker ant among the masses of an organized religion.

If you must belong to a faith that reads the Koran, then go with Sufism.
