Speaking as a guy who's a liberal to conservatives and a conservative to liberals, it actually is much easier in conservative areas, where I was treated like a friendly rival, than in liberal areas, where I'm treated like a heretic.

That's just a matter of personal perspective.

Never said it wasn't, but if you talk to libertarians or others who don't really fit with either side, you'll hear the same thing an awful lot.

Well if you want to talk personal experience it's my belief that many conservatives and libertarians have a victimhood complex.

Yeah it's just so hard to be conservative.

You want to see some of the hate the left gets. Just check out some of the hard line websites. It took a conservative to come up with the term "liberal."

Says the liberal trying to tell my how much harder liberals have it... Does the irony not even occur?

Also, argument by comment section? Really?

Some food for thought:

Image

The guy on the left is the chairman of the Conservative Party in Denmark.

The guy on the right is his partner (and he just lost a friend in the Orlando attack, BTW).

Oh, and Edmund Burke (widely considered the founding father of Conservatism) was one of the earliest political voices to speak out against maltreatment of homosexuals in 1780.

/food for thought.

Goes to show you, secular conservatives aren't as insane as their conservative religious counterparts.

And secular conservatives often get ignored by everybody, though I myself am Christian.

By using such a broad brush to categorize an entire group of people, you exemplify the OP’s premise.

I really feel dispirited. Conservatives are only defined by what they are against. Even conservatives in other parts of the world are more centrist than America is.

This truly sucks. I can't wait for conservatives to make inroads again. But, I think God hates them and wants them to be miserable today. Don't push me to think otherwise.

Fellow conservative here.

Just ride the wave. I gave up being vocal yesterday for fear that the government may be targeting me with microwave radiation to make me sick/sicker. I don't know if they are or aren't, I just don't want to take that chance. Look up "targeted individual", if the aforementioned sentence confuses you.

There is nothing you can do, except focus on yourself, or just pretend to be liberal to make friends. I find most liberals will listen if you talk to them one on one, as opposed to debating them in a group, where they are automatically subjected to groupthink.

I voted for Harper, in the Canadian election, and am embarrassed as a Canadian to have such a weak leader as president. I live in Ontario, which has a debt equal to that of california's debt, and they have 30 000 000 people as opposed to our 9 000 000. We can thank Lynne Wynne for that, because of her corruption.

The only reason people get voted in, is if they are a woman, gay, black, whatever. It's seen as a big deal, and I personally believe that gender and race quotas are in and of themselves, racist and sexist.

What? A black lesbian woman can't do as good of a job as a cis straight white man, so we need diversity and affirmative action? That's racist AND sexist, and homophobic.

May the best human, qualified for the job get the position. That is my belief, whether it's a white man, or a gay muslim transgender in a wheelchair.

Liberalism, which is really now just partly skimmed socialism, is all about social control through mass mind manipulation, and it plays on the human desire to a) fit into a group and b) lash out at all those who have more than them.

The world is on a downward trajectory, my compadre. There is no escape from this ride.

www.8ch.net/pol will help you find like minded people, but I have feeling you know about the site already.

I am also a "Yuuuge" Donald Trump supporter, especially after the massacre.

You're not alone, kid.

Being conservative, means that I am pro freedom.

So that means I am...

1. Pro-LGBT (because what you do in the privacy of your home or a bathroom stall is no one's business but your own.
2. Pro-Drug (put whatever the hell you want in your body - it's not my problem.
3. Pro-Abortion (people make mistakes, why should an unwanted child have to pay the price?)

It's one thing to be a Conservative, and it's quite another to see a bogeyman behind every light pole. I think that the Conservatives lost their credibility when they became identified with the tinfoil-hat crowd.
