When you use a contactless payment card instead of an Oyster card, it's impossible to get refunded on those charges for not tapping in and out (when you have). There is nowhere on the TFL website to go to, and going to the desks inside stations does not work either. It majorly sucks and I lost so much money doing it, to the point I buy either returns or travelcards now.

The project I am working on, under instruction from TFL, is where the replacement for Oyster cards will be one one where you cannot get your money back.

What else are they introducing/taking away with the replacements? That new rule isn't good.

Dont really know at the moment tbh. Their main issue they brought to us was that they want rid of Oyster cards as there have been unforeseen complications with them. The main one is that when you load your card up it can stay there for years and years doing nothing. When you add up all the people who leave money on a card that will not be used i.e holiday makers, people who have moved away, people who have died etc TFL have ended up with a bank account with billions of pounds in that they are not allowed to touch as it is not technically theirs to spend. It has meant that they are essentially operating as a bank and as such have had all manor of rules and regulations imposed on them and have had to create new departments just to manage it and employ loads of people for it. None of which they want to do.

Interesting. I wonder how much money they would lose if they refunded everyone those overcharges. I know, didn't see that suggestion coming from me did you? :P That's an awful lot of money though. What are they going to do with it?

Those fines are totally stupid. Maybe I have a dodgy card, but the one bleep each time on the readers is always the same.

You can definitely get refunded on it, you just have to register the card to a TfL account. It's exactly the same procedure as getting an Oyster refund. You can only make three applications a month but I've only had to make one in ~8 months.

We knew this week would be dramatic but on day one we have had high drama.

Anti no deal legislation drawn up ready for the Commons to open its doors tomorrow. Johnson reportedly threatening to deselect anyone in his party who votes against his Brexit plan. PM speech this evening threatening a General Election if his opponents win their anti no deal legislation.

Some claims tonight Johnson has already drawn up the motion ready to ask for a mid October election as soon as he loses control of the order paper tomorrow.

I can't speak for anyone from the UK, but as a US citizen, I suggest buying all your christmas presents within September/October, because come November 1st, Brexit is Oct 31st, new tariffs will come into effect, plus global uncertainty, you can expect prices for everything to go up astronomically.

Corbyn & McDonnell sounding like they would back a call for a GE in October (while some of their MP's say they won't as they think it's a trap)

Chakrabarti saying they won't back a GE until the legislation is through

would make much more sense for Labour to pass legislation first and then get a GE on their own terms (VoNC) rather than on their opponents terms

Johnson being absolutely mauled in the Commons (his own party joining in), then as he goes to speak one of own MP's crosses the house.

And just like that, he no longer has a working majority.

Staggering stuff.

PM Johnson loses by 27. 21 of his own party voted against him, who he now says will have the whip removed.

Johnson then says he will ask for a GE this week if the Bill passes the Lords. Quite a challenge to get it through the Lords if the rumoured filibustering (90 amendments) turns out to be true

This all must look so odd from the outside if you don't usually see how the UK House of Commons works

Johnson to ask the Commons at 7:00pm for a General Election
