Quote:
A former pollster to President Jimmy Carter who helped the 39th president win over voters dissatisfied with government died Saturday at the age of 68.

Patrick Caddell, who worked with Carter and several other Democratic candidates before becoming a conservative media pundit in recent years and even an informal adviser to President Trump's 2016 campaign for the White House, died from complications caused by a stroke, his daughter told Yahoo! News.

Caddell worked with Carter during both his presidential run in 1976 and eventual White House administration, but the president would go on to lose the 1980 presidential election to Republican Ronald Reagan.

In more recent years, Caddell became a close friend of former Breitbart News chief and Trump campaign strategist Stephen Bannon, who met with Caddell during the height of the 2016 presidential election.

“Steve Bannon is a good friend and we often talk,” Caddell said of his friendship with the right-leaning political operative.

Yahoo! News reports that Caddell spoke at times with Trump following the latter's successful White House bid, and reportedly called his election “about disdain" during a March 2017 interview.

“Americans have decided to seize back their sovereignty,” Caddell said at the time, according to Yahoo! News.
