Well, I don't know much about the whole situation, but Trump seems to be a complete dickhead with his war on whistleblowers, assuming this is true.
Bad, bad, Trump. <hit Trump on the nose with a rolled up newspaper.>

The thing that did disturb me about the release of information was that there were no redactions, putting people at risk.
I don't know how accurate this is.

The whole thing sounds very messy.
I don't think this will be resolved in a hurry.

I wonder if the Australian government will help Julian Assange, an Australia citizen.
They seemed to have done bugger all to date.

Thanks for sharing Rush! I saw Ellsberg say the same thing in another interview on the Real News. I like how he called this crap from Trump an unprecedented attack by any previous president on the 1st Ammendment and ergo yet another impeachable offense because it's so blatantly unconstitutional! f**k Trump and his wacko cabal!

And there's a deafening silence from liberals who usually get hysterical about him saying "CNN sucks".

If you take the time to research it, that was actually Luke Harding and David Leigh who were working for the Guardian.
Wikileaks were doing a release with a bare minimum of redactions, up until Harding and Leigh published the password to the entire archive.

https://techfruit.com/2011/09/01/did-th ... -password/
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-14743410
https://news.antiwar.com/2011/08/31/gua ... passwords/

So it was actually Harding and Leigh of the Guardian who published the password to the entire unredacted archive.
These facts are agreed by all of the parties.

The motives are in dispute, The Guardian claimed it was an innocent misunderstanding and not malice, while Wikileaks seemed of the view that such a level of stupidity was indistinguishable from malice.
But at the end of the day it was the Guardian that released the full unredacted cable set without even a bare minimum of redactions.

So in essence: Facts be damned. Let's bury the Assange bugger.
Sounds like a typical Trump approach to me, but I'm not saying he is the only political ratbag.

I saw a video where Assange tried to warn the Clinton camp about the password leak.
He was ignored.

The trial will be interesting with so many defence strategies available to Assange.

BTW, Assange isn't a Brit. He is Australian.
