Hello
I was wondering if anyone knew the history behind the now infamous character in the Bible known as the Devil.
I also was hoping people would use historical references in this post, ideally with info on the source of the info.
I was also wondering if anyone could clarify the difference's between the various different characters who are known as the Devil, such as Lucifer, Satan etc. Are they all the same entity or are they different.

Please note at this point, i ask these questions not because i am attracted to dark forces, as i am not.
I am interested in historical accuracy of the origins of all such characters.

The Devil is evil with a capital D.

The Devil aka Satan was an archangel who wanted to become like God. He got 1/3 of the angels to join with him. There was a war in heaven and Satan along with his host were cast down and became fallen angels aka demons. There is constant spiritual warfare between Satan and his demons and the heavenly host of God's angels. Satan mainly seeks powder and to mess up and undo what God has done. A good part of that is to tempt and seduce humans to be ungodly, to cause a rift between God and humans.

Lucifer might be Satan or he might have just been an evil human ruler, based on interpretation.
