So something happened recently near my neighborhood that gave me the epiphany of realizing just how spiritually bankrupt we are as a society.

There's this church up the road from my house with an old cemetery in the back. With spring arriving here in Georgia the pretty wildflowers have been blooming all over the place. This church cemetery was covered in beautiful yellow wildflowers called brown-eyed susans popping up all around the crumbling headstones.

But what bothered me was the fact that the same church people mowed down these lovely flowers in their cemetery.

Now I know some of you with disagree with me on this, but the fact that such lovely flowers were blooming all around the graves... if it were me connected to that church I would see such lovely flowers as some kind of simple blessing or sign from my "God" that my deceased loved ones were doing ok and that I don't need to mourn them. It was a beautiful scenery, a true gift from nature that these church people clearly thought nothing of destroying.

Where is the "spirituality" or "meaning" in destroying something so beautiful growing in a gloomy space?

I know you guys probably aren't going to understand why it bothered me so much. I'd rather sit in my own garden enjoying all the beautiful flowers I planted than be in any Church that cynically can't appreciate a blessing on their own property.

The world is losing its soul. I feel like I'm better off not connecting to other people most days. :|

Well I'm secular, but I too hate it when people destroy things of natural beauty. I don't know that things used to be any better, but they do leave much to be desired.

Yeah regardless of one's beliefs, I think seeing people destroy something so beautiful without a thought is just sad...

I mean those wildflowers weren't hurting anything. They added beauty to that cemetery was all. :|

True, So Many Metaphors of Life Will Be Found

in Human Cemeteries; First oF All, Instead of

'Pushing Up WildFlowers,' We Hoard Our

Dead in Boxes for A Promise of Heaven

Coming Again in a Dirt Nap; It's True, Humans

With Both Their Gifts and Curses of Languages, Are the

Only Part of Nature

That Tales Lies; Yes,

Every Story is only an

Approximation of the Truth
of Reality; THE Essence, Foundation

Of All Form FOR REAL, FOR REAL, FOR REAL...

Humans Seek to Grasp and Own the Art Of Nature

To Quell Their Anxieties of Not Being Able to Control Nature

By the Order of
Sidewalks And
Walking And Even
Talking In Only Straight
Lines; Side to Side of Page,
As They Still Say, Do, and Write...

Meanwhile WildFlowers, Most Beautiful,
Persevering Through Droughts, Bringing Beauty
to Cracks in Sidewalks, WHere Humans Become More

Machine and
Predictable Now

Than the Wind; Yes,
That Will Return Seeds,
Wild Flowers New, No Matter

How Neatly Folks Cut Around
Gravesites Worshipping the Bones

And Failing to See the Life of Wild Flowers,
Carrying on the Real Miracle; the Gift of Life, Now

Yet Here's the 'Thing,' When We Lose Hope of Wild Flowers,
When We Fail to Persevere and Break Through Sidewalks And

Move, Connect, and Co-Create With Others, Celebrating the Beauty of Life

Together; Sadly,

We Become
Thorns
And
Flower No More...

It's Up to Us to Keep Blooming
Together as Only Weeds Understand
Naturally How to Best, Just Keep Blooming...

Through Droughts, Through Storms, Through Concrete Life

With
SMiLes..:)

One person’s ‘spirituality’ is another person’s ’nuisance’.

Repeat after me: “This is not my cemetery; those are not my flowers”.

Thanks but I'd rather repeat this mantra.

Fnord is not my father, he's not having sex with me, and he's not paying none of my bills.

Indeed, because if any of these things were true then I would have to listen to your opinions and let you boss me around.

In other words you have no power over me. Not even the power to piss me off like you've done before. :jester:
