What about the Hoodoo and Appalachian Witchcraft? Or am I the only one who cares about folk magick?

I often wonder if my great grandmother was into it. My Mom said that she used to cure her warts as a little girl by buying them off with pennies. Apparently that's an old Appalachian folk remedy.

Meh, I'm more a Pagan myself.

Actually I can honestly say that's a positive when it comes to the south. A lot of our women are real matriarchs, especially the older generations like my own mother and grandmothers. Many of them are single mothers or grandmothers who raise their grandchildren when the men don't stick around to help for whatever reason. The men here like to think they're so macho and in charge but in reality it's really our mamas and grandmamas who are the glue which holds us together.

There are lots of great people in the South, and from the South. With lots to be proud of.

Very true! There are a lot of really nice, friendly people in the South.

I don't hate the South, I live here and I was born here. But I feel like many people around the country hate the south though. I made this topic out of bitterness against the scapegoating and PC censorship that's going on right now, not to mock the south.
