Back when Trump ran in 2016 I told people I thought he was autistic because he talks the same way I do. People frequently accused me of lying too but I was always very honest, far more than most people. The thought of an autistic person who was misunderstood and falsely accused by the majority of people (just like I was) become president was the main reason I liked him. I didn't vote for the Republicans who ran against Obama in the two prior elections so Trump being a Republican had nothing to do with why I liked him.
What's going on? Many of Trump's statements in the link you posted are exaggerations which can be explained by Trump being self-absorbed and thinking too highly of himself which could be due to feeling like he didn't fit in anywhere which is why he focuses too much on himself. Other statements come from conspiracy theories (I know some of his pre-election statements I looked up came from Alex Jones's Infowars site. He's not lying if he actually believes them which he probably does). It's not uncommon for people who felt rejected or misunderstood by society to be distrustful of popular/mainstream news and to trust alternative sources of information. Other statements are misquotes. For example, saying 99% of cases of Covid-19 are harmless based on evidence that the mortality rate is 1%. In my case, those were due to mixing up information and memory problems (he'd remember 1% morality and think 99% were harmless because they survived while forgetting that some of them were hospitalized). Sometimes he's joking or sarcastic but people think he's serious because his voice doesn't change. That happened with his bleach comment. He said, let me ask questions on behalf of the reporters and the 3rd or 4th question he asked was whether you could clean the Coronavisus out of your lungs with bleach. I knew he was being sarcastic because I was also sounded serious, my voice didn't change either, and I got angry just like Trump did when I was falsely accused of lying. Trump also likes to speak casually which means restating stuff he heard without verifying it first.
In conclusion, while Trump may make many imprecise, exaggerated, or factually incorrect statements I think he is a generally honest person who isn't intentionally trying to deceive people.
