Trump was his usual blustery, bloviated self.  Biden was certainly less than memorable.

How can anyone determine a winner between Geriatric Joe and Donny Demento?  If those two are the best their respective parties have to offer, then a drunken dog-catcher would make a better president than either of them.

It's quite possible that the winner(s) of the debate were those who did not watch\sit through it...

Sounds like they found a new and ingenious way for both to end up losing

I couldn’t even watch it all.

Compare the Nixon/Kennedy debates with this one. There's your answer.

We need a presidential campaign like the ones which occurred with Adlai Stevenson and Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Do you feel ANYBODY would have made a disease like COVID a political issue back in the 1950s? Hell no! They would have batten down the hatches and imposed NATIONWIDE STANDARDS of dealing with COVID (like they did with polio).

Perhaps they should hold the next two debates by remote feed, and not in person.

So when one candidate is given time to present his points or answer questions, the moderator can mute the other candidate and prevent interruptions.

The U.S. is circling the drain, and neither candidate discussed any real policy solutions. That was truly depressing to watch.

Or just let the moderator use shock collars when they interrupt each other and start yelling.

House rules. Are you saying you wish there weren't a Fox News employee moderator?

Why on earth would Trump supporters take issue with harsh questions? Trump basically only asks inflammatory questions. The truth hurts.

During the debates, Trump told the Proud Boys to stand back and standby.
Looks like America will experience sociopolitical genocide after all, in the coming months. Told ya my nightmares were coming true.

Well, that would probably increase the ratings, as well... but then the viewers would likely be cheering on both to interrupt each other just for the LULZ...

Anyway, the Commission on Presidential Debates (not to be confused with The Commission) has now released the following statement:

CPD wrote:
The Commission on Presidential Debates sponsors televised debates for the benefit of the American electorate. Last night’s debate made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues. The CPD will be carefully considering the changes that it will adopt and will announce those measures shortly. The Commission is grateful to Chris Wallace for the professionalism and skill he brought to last night’s debate and intends to ensure that additional tools to maintain order are in place for the remaining debates.

Turned out to be an interesting evening of TV.

Was already cringing at the very thought of even watching the debate, but did watch some of it. Basically Trump just interrupting, and talking over Biden, and the moderator, and flinging accusations, and personal attacks, to see what would stick. Biden didnt even have time to talk policy, or even ...to be doddering. Though there were hints of dottage in his voice. And there was more than a large dose of desperation in Trump's voice. Not a moment to make you proud as an American.

Biden by default because of Trump's embarrassing behavior.

Only watched a couple minutes of it, but I gather that it was fair sample of what the whole evening was like from all reports.

I then surfed the dial seeking escape from the debate, and ended up watching an interesting cable doc about the making of "Hamilton" the musical.

I hadnt realized that Lin Manuel Miranda not only starred in, but wrote the libretto, and the music, and directed the play, as well as sang and acted in the starring role. Was stunned to see Miranda demonstrate genius comparable to that of ...the real Alexander Hamilton himself. He and the real Hamilton would probably not have seen eye to eye politically anymore than Trump and Biden, but between the two of them- the founding father of old, and the living artist who portrays him, it restored some of my hope for America.

I'm fairly certain I won by not watching. Hit my limit on Trump debates ~ March of 2016.
