My genes are pretty good. But although those jeans were good in high school, the fashion world now thinks of them as fat jeans!

I have a distant relative who lives in Westerville.

My weight fluctuates.

What a coincidence ... I used to live in Queens. And my weight has always fluctuated.

Has the fat acceptance movement done any good though? It seems that models still have to be thin, movie stars almost always still have to be, and I don't think overweight women have had any increase in their dating odds as a reasult of the movement either. So unlike other movements that have seen some good, has this one at all though?

People shouldn't be scorned merely for being fat.....that's only common sense.

Oh yes I agree, but it just seems that the movement hasn't done anything to lessen it at all.

But I was just wondering how effective the movement will likely be. For example, will 30 years from now or more, people will look back and say "Can you believe that back in the 20teens, overweight people had problems getting dates and attention, and it was a big deal in attraction, compared to now"? Or will it not go that far likely?

I still dig Rubenesque.

Fat acceptance is common sense. It doesn’t matter if it “works” or not.

Possibly. Some theorize that there was a gray area - it was okay to depict naked women, but not if they were too sexy. Especially in churches. Supposedly, male models were sometimes used. So, fat and frumpy was okay in depicting the female form because it was less distracting and tantalizing, not because it was ever preferred by men en masse.

"Plus" what? Although my figure is a little different due to childbirth and age, I still wear the same size. I am careful about what I eat, but I don't stress about a restaurant meal (I take half of it home with me anyway).

I guess because my ribs and hip bones don't stick out like a model, I'm considered "fat." My doctor disagrees, and I'm quite comfortable in my day-to-day life, which includes walking at least two miles a day (I'm 66 years old).

How did things get this crazy??

Clothing sizes have changed. What may have been a size 14 in the 1980's would now be a size 8.
