The other night, I watched the president’s speech on gun control. Here it is:
No mention of repealing the second amendment. At the 2:15 mark of the video he acknowledged the rights of responsible gun owners.

But that wasn’t enough for Fox News. In the immediate response to the speech on there, there was one woman out of the 5 people that spinned it as if Biden is coming for your guns. I haven’t been able to find the video on the internet yet, but if I do I’ll post the link to it in the comments. When I heard those remarks I screamed at the TV “did you not hear him you b**ch!?!”

It was another reminder to me that all they do is blatantly fear monger and make the left look evil.

Are you a classical liberal? Most people who call themselves liberals don't even know what a classical liberal is. I suspect Joe Biden doesn't even know, and he's the Leader of the Free World. Or maybe he's a neoliberal. Or maybe even a neoconservative.

I'm pretty much politically homeless, as I dont subscribe to any political ideology 100 percent. I do believe in universal healthcare, and have voted for more true progressives, third-party candidates, over the last decade.

I'm not sure how your question pertains to my comment, but there you go.

Yeah CNN is idk what to even say about it...some people see it as more left leaning, but it kind of seems like a gloomier copy of Fox.

Some say the same about CNN.

I suppose I was just being weird. I threw in a lot of buzzwords that tend to come up in these political discussions that quickly become tedious. This thread may have crashed on takeoff

Some more about the right wing: recently during an MLB game between the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees, both teams tweeted statistics on gun violence. Of course, I saw a few people on the right who took exception to this. Who in their right mind would object to that when there was a good reason for it. Several kids were killed just a couple days before and people are upset about those tweets?

People like Ben Shapiro and Ron DeSantis; I have some choice words for them. If me calling out the absurdity of their views makes me a liberal loser, so be it.

I remember several times President Biden referred to responsible gun owners. I remember his main points as:

1) re-instate the 1994 ban on assault weapons which lasted ten years until 2004,

2) if we can’t do that, let’s at least raise the minimum age of purchase from 18 to 21,

3) a majority of Americans support background checks,

4) close the gun show and Internet loopholes for sales without background checks,

5) red flag laws, and

6) address the mental health crisis.

Here’s a transcript:

I think it was a good talk by a realistic leader.

Ah, yeah. Measuring life with a one-dimensional proxy. That's so silly, an economist must have come up with it.

As polarized as American politics is, it really should be no surprise that the media covering it is just as polarized.

We have to come together on the issue of these school shootings.
