Members of the Republican Party seem to think that they own women's uterii.

Exactly. They aren't normal or mature.

I do wonder if it's peer pressure. Which man can get the youngest wife. Because the younger the girl, the more likely she is to be a virgin perhaps? I know some cultures prize female virginity very highly.

And what about that thing they do to girls? Female Genital Mutilation. Makes me shudder

Dunno about the detail, but there is at least one medical condition, don't remember what it's called, that can bring forth one's puberty at very young age, like having a girl's period start at 7.

I don't remember the details, but I apparently had some condition that would've caused very early puberty, but it was slowed down with some injections once a month. No idea what those injections were, though. Didn't really care at the time since I was 8 or something, 9 at most, and mom handled all that kind of stuff.



Actually, many countries have put age limits in place, but there isn't any proper surveillance to make sure they are followed, so many just do things as they've always done them since there'll be no consequences anyway.

Sometimes, people just get early periods.

May 14, 1939 -- Lina Medina, from the Ticrapo District of Peru, gave birth by cesarean section in Lima at age 5-1/2.  The infant was a 2.69 kg (5.9 lb), 47.5 cm (18.7 in) boy named Gerardo.  Medina's parents, who thought their daughter had a tumor, took her to a hospital, where she was then found to be 7 months pregnant when she was about 5 years and 6 months old.  She gave birth 1-1/2 months later.  By interrogating her parents, the doctors understood that Medina had entered into precocious puberty (when hormone glands are activated earlier than normal) very early after her birth.  Medina's father was arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse, but was later released due to lack of evidence, and the baby's biological father was never identified.

Girls can conceive the first time they ovulate, without ever having a period.
Sometimes they assume they can't get pregnant because they aren't finished puberty.
Sometimes other people make this assumption on their behalf, when committing rape.

Yes. Women's fertility is not textbook is it? e.g. those who find themselves suddenly giving birth on the toilet without knowing they were even pregnant.

Being female is not straightforward like in the medical textbooks. Those are just guidelines.

They have no idea how far along he was, but he was tiny.

Exactly. Nowadays we wouldn't just shrug and go well, I guess it's a mystery we'd use DNA to confirm parentage and either confirm or dismiss him as a suspect.

I put the date in bold characters to indicate it is old news, a child as young as 5 could still be impregnated.

If the "baby" is still alive, his DNA could still be run, but the results would have to be statistically determined, which would only indicate high or low probability of paternity, but still not be absolutely certain.

Yes, but it says it happens to approx 1 in 500,000 births?
That seems high to me.

My daughter may have had a twin.
It's kind of a graphic story but I chose not to read the biopsy results.
