Apparently, this woman filed a public lawsuit against Gibson County, TN, for failing to hear a complaint about inhumane treatment of dogs at a dog pound. According to her, The dogs were being starved, and instead of properly euthanizing dogs whose time had run out, the dogs were shot in the head. She also told above news station about the way the dogs were being treated. Two days later, she was arrested for letting her animals run free. A neighbor filed a complaint because her cat scratched her car. She was apparently given 14 days to turn herself in, but no warrant was served and neither the Gibson Co. Deputy nor a county executive knew why she wasn't summoned. Now family and friends are calling it retaliation. A famous comedian has taken personal interest in the case, and has promised the defendant complete coverage of legal fees, as a means of showing support.

So, what do you think? Personally, i think the whole arrest reeks of corruption. The county didn't want to be responsible for their mistake, so they pinned the person complaining to make her look like she couldn't be taken seriously. Now, it looks like the county government is in the doghouse.

Open for discussion,
Archamge

I disagree with animal rights people on many important points...

That said... you have to admit that abuses happen in our society and should be punished...

I think animal rights activists are BASICALLY right... only they have a John Kerry-esque inability to get people to support them...

Just because she claimed those things doesn't mean it was actually true....

I for one have absolutely no patience with people who let their dogs run free, especially in a rural area with livestock.

Also...if the one about shooting the dogs in the head is true, this is probably just as humane as "euthanizing" (a fancy, sanitary sounding word for 'killing') by injection. Properly aimed, it only takes one bullet to give an animal an instantaneous death. I don't like it if the dogs were being starved though...that sort of defeats the purpose of having a shelter.

Good point...

Bullets to the head kill as quickly as euth...

Why do you think the KGB did it so often? It's instant if it works properly...

It wasn't her dog, it was her cat. Cats in my neighborhood usuallly run free, as long as they come home at feeding time.

And also, even if they didn't accidently miss with the gun and end up painfully killing the dog, it's still illegal. Plus they didn't have any records on the killings, as the were supposed to by Federal law.

It's illegal to shoot a dog with a bullet? That is just plain unreasonable.

What else can you shoot a dog with?!

They should've taken the dogs to the slaughterhouse instead and fed them to a hungry family... :P
