But did you drop a Victorian, early-edition Villette onto your toes, or just banish it into a missing box of dust and stale air for all eternity?

*Vintage books make great wedding gifts.*

They are wrapped in brown paper, which will stop any foxing.

Seeing as they are probably worth 7 grand if I find the missing edition, they would make an excellent wedding gift

I think mine are 1901. Will check.

I drool on your non-foxes.

I don't see a publication date inside but it's inscribed as XMas 1902 ^

Oh wait Duh. 1901.

It's the JM Dent Temple Edition, seemingly from this set, although I only have Villette .

If the whole set is valued at £150, I can only imagine yours is First edition by Smith & Elder (1853), or a very early edition thereafter.

Gulp.

Find that box and I'll take it off your hands for a good price. Serious.

I can't remember the age of mine , deffo Victorian but not first editions (1850ish I think) and not worth 7 grand although I've seen people ask that. The books are in good company though, they are in a box with a load of signed books, a first edition signed copy of Cheiro's Palmistry for All and a special wedding presentation copy of a book which I won't name.

I have no idea where the box is, it could be in 1 of 3 places ( 2 of them not in my house). And if I get my hands on them you can have first refusal but don't hold your breath as I have boxes not opened from houses I have moved from 2 houses ago  .

There should be a meme for teasing-by-books.

Sigh.

Did you buy it on auction?

I'm sure it's well-preserved. I'm just joshing you about the dust.

I hope you make a mint off it one day.

Deal. No need to search though.
Just let it age. You can write an IOUFR instead.

Couldn't find a relevant meme and not feeling creative enough to make one.

I got them from a charity shop for buttons.

I think my other post is evidence of IOUFR , make sure you screenshot and blackmail

Specifically, the Bible.

More generally, books on science, science-fiction, and role-playing games.

^ Screenshot taken, printed, and PM'ed to myself.

Maybe I'll even put it on my hard drive in case my computer gets hacked, or something to that effect.

^ I'm sure Isabella does approve of your reading material, but I believe her post was aimed at me, and you nipped in just before she replied.

A massive work and a real page turner, especially once you get into it.

I don't know if anyone else had this experience, but I found it had a very dry, dark kind of humour in it at times.
