I am tutoring a young man, age 11 in reading. His summer reading assignment is -Rules- by Cynthia Lord
http://www.amazon.com/Cynthia-Lord/e/B0 ... 391&sr=1-1

It is written so people in 5th and 6th grade can get the material. It is very insightful and rather well done.

You might want to have a look at it.

Read it before, actually. I love how the kid sometimes speaks in quotes from his favorite story, I've wanted to do that so many times.

Cynthia Lord, the author based the novel on her own experience. She has an autistic son.

Bless you for being a tutor,if it hadn't been for mine in grade school I would have never caught up with reading and writing. She was a wonderful patient teacher. One of the best things I remember is that her hubby worked at the health department and he let me look at the rabies virus thru a microscope. And she took me to see Bozo the clown.
