rate from 0 to 10 these two statements

1. People are generally good.
2. the ends justify the means

0 meaning never 10 meaning always.

give if you would "good" a banal meaning of moral kindhearted etc.

Now THIS I can actually do without going quibbly And uncdertain.

1: [people good] : 5

2. [ends means] 5

No need to explain or qualify. Don't know if this will do what you want, but ity is easy on me.

Maybe I should qualify thus far:

taking "good" not as GOOD but as = "not malevolent"

taking "justifies" not as "renders just" but as "is worth the cost"

1. People are born with the light of Christ to tell good from bad , yet, people are born with carnal desires...5

2. The ends rarely justify the means, rarely...2

On the ends justifying the means thing, I'm pretty apathetic and/or easygoing about most things. When it comes to the few things I do care about I'd feel justified in doing whatever is necessary to protect them.

I don't think everybody is good in their heart. But I do believe peoples objectives determine their action. So called principle is a post hoc justification of action taken prior.

3 - people are generally good in their intentions, but they don't let that affect their actions
5 - you have to account for side effects as well as ends

The question asks if people are generally good. Which I don't interpret as all of them are good.

Just for fun, She Who Shall Not Be Named when we discussed opted for 5 for good, 3 for means.
