It's a fact. There are people out there who expect you to be "perfect" at everything. I wrote a blog explaining reasons why perfection is too much of an expectation in our society. Please check it out and feel free to comment on hear or on the blog.

Yes, or by how perfect they realize I am!

Your definition can't be perfect, because I've already defined a perfect person by how similar they are to me. :D

I think I agree with you that perfect people don't exist. I might actually argue that the qualities we view as human are incompatible with perfection.

Quote:
I have realized no person in the whole world is perfect. People mainly judge my behaviors because they don’t understand my Asperger’s Syndrome. I am not perfect, they are not either. When you are meeting a new person, it is good to see beyond their quirks. It is difficult for me sometimes, but I do try my best when I meet a new person, or around my friends or family. I pretty much answered the title question for myself. You can’t define a perfect person.

Please forgive me for not taking time to be serious here earlier, Derek.

My wife is my "perfect mate", meaning "someone perfectly suited for me". However, that does not mean she is a "perfect person". In fact, being married to someone "perfect" would likely cause me great pain.

People do not judge our behaviours because they do not understand our AS. They judge our behaviours for the same reasons we judge theirs: To help decide how we either might or might not want to interact with them, if at all. My wife, however, does not usually judge *me* too harshly even when she might truly hate a given behaviour of mine, and her understanding my AS certainly *is* part of what helps make that possible.

Overall then, "perfectly human" is something we all need to accept about others, and I believe a "perfect mate" or friend or anyone else is someone who seriously tries to do that well.

I have read some posts at this site obviously written by perfect idiots. I don't know if they qualify.

For what?

In any case:

------------------
Idiot, n. (Webster)
A natural fool or fool from his birth; a human being in form, but destitute of reason, or the ordinary intellectual powers of man.
------------------

I would doubt such a "person" could even write a readable post!

I will consider your doubts.

I have considered and have a hunch that the ordinary intellectual powers of man, as gauged by world conditions throughout history, does make him or her a perfect fool. It is only by harnessing the extraordinary powers of man that the world has made substantial progress.

Short of being tempted to refer to a fundamentalist Christian explanation that only Jesus Christ is perfect and no-one else is... I still think there's no such thing as a perfect person, therefore no definition, despite what some people think of themselves. Perfection's in the eye of the beholder, as to whether a person stacks up adequately to the beholder's values.

Which is a good example in why the word perfect is contradictory. People define perfect not perfection itself.

For instance, there may be a society that caters and values creativity as a strong point whilst another society views it delusional or insignificant. We create our own version of perfect, nature and evolution do the rest of the work.
