It seems strange that Ted Cruz remains silent on the existence of free porn sites while railing against "evil" Grammy-winning performers and "devil music".

He'll try to get the porn sites outlawed as well.

But as bad as Ted is, Greg Abbott is even worse. At least the Dems have a slight majority in the Senate. The pro-Trump/pro-Abbott faction of the GOP has a trifecta if not a supermajority in our state government.

How many of the people outraged now were cheering when Trump was pwning the people they view as opponents?

I guess what's good for the goose isn't good for the gander?

And Sam Smith just needed to recycle the oldest shtick in the book to get the "anti-cancel culture" folks to cancel them.

Selective outrage. Trump could say anything and these same clowns like Cruz would make excuses about free speech or that he's joking. The irony and double standards of the right never ceases to amaze me.

Sam Smith is gay. I suspect that has a lot to do with why Ted Cruz is obsessed with this clip. typical republican homophobia. Nothing else to see here folks.

There was another performer in that skit, Kim Petras who is Trans.

It had nothing to do with sexual orientation or gender identity, the Devil made them do it :D

Petra in one her interviews touched on the same concept I've heard from a personal friend of mine:

Religion has no space for them.

I remember when I heard my friend say that 20 years ago, and it made me really sad. The Christian message was supposed to extend a loving hand to everyone who needed it; that is who Jesus was, I truly believe. But in today's world, for many groups of people simply trying to live as God made them, the negative judgement comes first and permeates every interaction. Of course they turn away. Religion SENDS them away.

We don't need to teach Christianity to those who don't believe in it. We need to teach people who consider themselves Christians how to be more Christlike in how they reach out to and talk about others.

I've said for a long time that it is conservative Christians who are killing faith in this country. As a person of faith, it's really hard to watch.

I dare say some satanists would disagree with that particularly the TST variety, if anything we'd be giving food to the mouths of hungry people and calling the rich leaches.

I mean part of what turned me away from christianity, even though I grew up believing in god and all that, was the way christians act and some of the hypocrisy. Like I just felt like christians should aim to be more christ-like but they aren't so willing to practice what they preach. Also though I just don't believe in spiritual stuff anymore scientific explanations for things I in the past would have thought were spiritual experiences exist and do actually make more sense. Like having seen a spirit in my room in actuality seems less likely than it having been a sleep paralysis event where I was awake for dreaming and it just tricked my brain into believing it was real.

I'm afraid there are bigger problems in Christian schools that have still not been dealt with
https://www.cbsnews.com/philadelphia/ne ... ic-school/

Stange that Cruz or his associates in the republican party can't bring themselves to say racism in school is evil?

The Mahatma was, of course, a Hindu. People have accused him of making up his own Christ. But the Christ he personally read about in the Bible preached love, tolerance, inclusion, charity, compassion, and self-sacrifice -- qualities conservative Christians seem to lack in themselves.

Because it is THEY who follow a made-up Christ.

And the evangelicals are a bunch of old fuddy-duddies who don't want people to have fun. Why even have ten commandments? They only have one commandment: Thou shalt not do anything even remotely amusing.

Now do people see why I am so desperate to get out of Texas?

Oh lawdy, say it ain't so!?
You do realize that even now, in 2023, one of the questions asked of individuals when establishing the risk categories for HIV 1 (not to be confused with HIV 2) is male to male sex? Allowing all individuals to donate blood has not changed that, they'll now allow anyone to donate blood and just throw it out if the person admits to being in a high risk category for infection. That way no one is offended and no one is infected. Win Win...

You may think this isn't so, but I assure you it is.

So does that give Cruz the right to label gay people "evil"??

No where in any of this is that implied. TT said that the only commandment Christians need is, if it's any fun don't do it.
My post reminded TT that one of the motivations behind putting the brakes on anything goes can be concern for public health.

Sam Smith chose to dress up as Satan, while being gay. Thus blurring any criticism of his choice of character portrayals and quickly making it a 'gay' anti-sentiment.

Selective outrage. 2 years ago Lil Nas X was literally humping satan in a video clip and it was widely condemned by the christian right in America. I read somewhere their outraged fanned the songs popularity so perhaps Cruz might want to take a leaf and keep his mouth zipped up. He is actually contributing to Sam Smith's song getting more exposure.
