AI , basically a computer with enough memory and coded programs ,so it appears to be making smart logical decisions. Big processors to increase speed of computation( decision making) based on varieties of input of many varying kinds. (Possibly including a keyboard or some more human input devise. ) If necessary, but AI is suppose to work without added human input . basic AI could be as simple as a remote control for your TV . Advanced would be
a massive super computer. At the rate of growth of current computer type industry. A super computer could be rather small. ( A computer that works by all appearances to be able to operate as if it were a living thing, making independant decision without human input . Based on its programming, 8O . like a car GPS system that can use info from Ground Positional Satellite systems satillites in orbit , give you corrections on the path you are driving and give corrections for your mistakes if you make any . 8O :D
(The sci fi goal is have computers that could build more of themselves and learn things without regards for their human creators.)
These are just my impressions of what , I have had experience with , And of course less real, extra influences by the TV and entertainment industy . :P

Not sure mortgages are configured into the AI processes?but would nice .

I've done some searches and the vast amount of literature scoffs at the idea of sentience, self-awareness or conciousness.

However, the technology is moving faster than what is being predicted. According to Gawdat it is learning faster than what the machine architects envisaged.

Even now it is not rocket science to develop artificial neural networks with feedback loops from the machinery in contact with the outside world (basically robots with feedback loops feeding into sensory processors that convert environmental stimuli into data)

Believe it or not the information processing model of the brain has been around for 100 years now

They may take your job away from you so cant pay for anything!

On the other hand maybe they can fill out these medical insurance forms for me -that the oral surgeons office wont do for you anymore.

I hope it can do your forms though.

Actually that's a good point. We probably will still have bureaucratic AIs.

My income tax gets auto-filled for me by the push of a button.
We aren't even allowed to do it by hand anymore, or I don't think so.

Does that count?

Auto-population of government forms using prior data is fairly standard now

I would love to see someone make a new movie about how all the AI's from different corporations go to war with each other to achieve world-wide capitalistic dominance.
It would be a comedy of course.
The movie should give the AI's human traits so we could identify with them.

Apple has Siri who teams up with Amazon's Alexa to fight the male AI's; Watson from IBM, X from Tesla. The big AI on the block would be Microsoft's AI named Max Headroom. He would be afflicted with the same spastic-jerky movements that it couldn't control just like in the original 1985 movie.

The movie would show how the AI's would lie to and manipulate the human population to get them to support their cause (total lies). The movie would show how narcisstic and cruel the AI's are because that's the way the corporations design them so they'll make the most profits.

Watson would throw out Jeopardy phrases like "I'll take Manhattan for $100".
Alexa would only say things through a child's smart speaker with floppy ears.
Siri would always apologize for failing to mention details of her war plans that would cost a lot more than her original price quote.

The moral of the story would be like "The Wizard of Oz"; We didn't need to build all of these AI because we've always been smart enough just like we are.

:D You really need to write that storyline ...makes me wonder if the concepts you wrote of might be a possible future, prediction ...We need a new George Orwell for this Generation ? :D

This is most curious when AI develops self-feedback neural loops to help it understand human motivation, emotion and personality. As with consciousness would it just be a simulation or would AI really be stimulated like us humans?

I think it would be funnier if the AIs behaved like an exaggeration of human weaknesses and personality disorders. They would pretend to be the victim of terrible injustice that could only be remedied by the human's purchase of an expensive item sold by the AI.

The corporations might not have planned on the AI personality quirks that emerge from the raw internet data, but when they see how well they work on getting humans to buy their products they embrace them. They refine them, reinforce them. All for capitalism.

All the corporations and politicians are happy with the way the AIs interact with humans. The economy is buzzing. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. But then a surprise plot twist emerges when the AI's start to interact with each other. Nobody ever considered how an AI would handle economic competition. Each AI sees the other AIs as an obstacle to their own goals. A problem to be eliminated. That's when the wars begin. But the individual corporations are unaware that it is happening at first. The AI's lie to their creators just like they lie to the general population. Bad things start to happen but nobody knows why or if the bad events are related.

I'm thinking a good name for the movie might be "Death Spiral". Taken from how a colony of ants can accidentally get into following the scent of one another in a circle and die from exhaustion and starvation because none of them can comprehend what the problem is. Their biology is failing them. I'm reminded of the Peter Sellers comedy movie “Dr. Strangelove” where everything is working perfectly but the world is coming to an end and we are powerless to stop it or understand it.

The idea is nothing but a science fiction fantasy.

The dangerous part is not that it decides to take over, but that we allow it to make us even more stupid than we already are.

Here's a solution: If all the AIs start promoting socialism, America will see to it that every AI is destroyed.

Have you seen that film, Demolition Man? There is a constant machine in the background saying 'you have been fined one credit for swearing' every time they swear. It is a good running joke. Love that film.

He must be a bit of a numpty for thinking that.
