Surrealist filmmaker David Lynch has passed on to the next plain of existence at age 78. He will be sorely missed.

‘Blue Velvet’ freaked out me and everybody at the job I was working at.

I have a special place for that movie in my heart, as the town of Lumberton was loosely based on my own Spokane, Washington, where Lynch had spent part of his childhood. He's considered something of a favorite son here.

I'll really miss David Lynch. He had a unique creative vision that was perplexing and often troubling but also highly entertaining and humorous.

Twin Peaks
obviously, but also Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway and Eraserhead were profoundly affecting pieces of TV/cinema for me. It makes me sad that we won't see inside his head any more.

Damn, he was an inspiration for the Rusty Lake series of games which are among my favorites.

He was one of a kind. I started a thread a little over a week ago and I posted a scene from Blue Velvet.
