I agree that this is art and not actually mysterious. There could be different teams working in various countries.

teams of artists were also proposed for crop circles...although how advanced designs were achieved often overnight. in some cases in a matter of hours remains a mystery. Many scientists too eager to debunk even provided oxygen to drunken pub goers with wooden planks creating them.

I find it strange the authorities are feigning being clueless about the monoliths?

It's like Banksy putting up graffiti art in various countries, and without being seen. It's just not mysterious, and neither are the crop circles. The authorities probably don't know who did the monoliths, or the crop art, or Banksy's graffiti art for that matter, but that doesn't mean there's an explanation other than the most ordinary one.

Some people clearly have too much time on their hands.

Imagine a generation or 2 of older money generations , whom hadtoo much exposure to 2001 a Space Odessey..
Then add some morons , with way too much money ....Whom are adept to the idea of trying to manipulate peoples
minds through versions of marketing ideas or concepts. Add enough extra cash to bring in a high dollar helicopter or some such method of transport a overly polished peice of Metal to create a slight effect on peoples minds . Hoping to imply that a superior technology is a work. ?
Lots of people whom have acquired massive wealth..whom think of this as a prank ( in their eyes) to pull on US citizens ,, [ very Possibly]. Some people got too much money , to behave responsibly to the rest of society .
Imagine just the cost of a piece of metal of that size, to be so highly polished of a piece of metal that might not show oxidative stress . For some period of time , and the cost of transport and install..? ( Would otherwise feed how many people for how long of a period of time)

Where is the band "the Who" when you need them?

To give these "monoliths" the ...kinda treatment that they deserve?

You might be right. I remember about 50 years ago, my younger brother created a large object in my home. It weighed several hundred pounds. We were away in Europe at the time and he was watching our home. After he was finished he found it very difficult to get the object out of our house. He called a friend and the two of them managed to remove it and take it deep into the desert in California. He then buried it into the ground. It was a major feat. He then created a roadmap to find the location and gave it to his girlfriend. I do not think she ever knew what to do with the clues he had given her. I suspect it is still buried deep in the ground somewhere in the deserts of California.

I can see the possibility that several centuries from now, someone will stumble upon it and create some crazy story surrounding this mysterious thing.

the monolith is a call-back to Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey series
