The interesting thing regarding say, black males feeling scared that police will kill them:
Is it a reasonable fear?
Say, from a population of more than 20 million people, 400 are killed each year by police (2015 totals). Over 75% are "good" shootings.
Going to fiction and assuming that all 400 are murders, is that still a reasonable fear?
Do they fear the 2400+ murders each year by the hands of their "own"?
I'm having a hard time thinking that either of those numbers are something to be concerned about, especially that you can avoid both in most instances by avoiding criminal activity (criminals kill other criminals and police kill criminals/criminals kill police, in its most simplest breakdown).
Of course, protesting and doing things to reduce those numbers, whichever one you choose to focus on, is a good thing, of course. But, perspective still needs to be looked at, and I think the whole, "no justice no peace" stuff could probably be toned down.
It's just not only about being killed by the police, but also because blacks are disproportionately targeted by the police for arrest and harassment, as if they were the only ones who commit crimes. The Minnesota man had been pulled over multiple times in his life, either for piddling sh*t, or even without justification. What white person has to go through that? Blacks are afraid of cops because it's assumed by the cops that said blacks are apparently guilty of something.
