I guess we'll find out soon enough. Might as well sit back and watch, it's not like we have any influence over the events.

I think it's a misconception that Putin has any territorial ambitions. Influence, sure.

It would seem the media is painting another picture

I concur!

Putin sure knows how to be a good liar and always will have a puppet in the form of Donald Trump.

As if Putin understands his people when it's clear he does not.

Well, the Russians themselves were never the enemy. They're just people who haven't had the courage to stand up to the regime they find themselves under. No, the real cancer on our world is Putin himself, and I look forward to the day when he's six feet under. Well, he along with multiple other tumors such as China's fascist establishment, but as my family is about 1/4 Ukrainian, I have a special hatred for Putin.

With that said, I don't hate the Russians invading Ukraine. I just see them as unfortunate pawns, so the Russian casualties in the current conflict sadden me too, even if they are necessary to protect Ukraine. I hope the Russians will one day be able to stand up to that monster in the Kremlin, but I fear that it will have to be old age that takes him (and he probably has another couple decades left).

Yes, brave Russians who stand up to this monster.

See even Boris has the right idea to get Putin to back down

Sanctions + public unrest in Russia will eventually hurt Putin

Sanctions are probably why China tries to play neutral instead of supporting Russia. They're unlikely to stop Putin but they can strongly discourage potential allies and/or followers.
I'm ready for more expensive gas if that's the price.

China and India supporting Russia in the security council. American supporting Pakistan has come back to bite them.

I believe recently they did push the narrative that NATO may bring nukes back into Ukraine.

I find that hard to believe.
