So this is another reason not to send troops to Ukraine. Russians themselves may force Putin to check his territorial ambitions. The average Russian wants to be a good global citizen as well.

I think it's a misconception that Putin has any territorial ambitions. Influence, sure.

Good one...
Oh, you were series. 8O

Okay, explain the motive to us.

Putin is one of the richest people in the world. He stands to lose more than gain in serious political missteps.

He wants to restore the empire and knows he can do it because the west is weak and won't interfere.
Guess what?
He was right. 8)

Empires bring problems. He seems like a more practical guy.

Invasion of Ukraine is definitely a low point in his career so far, Putin is a Cold War guy, he failed to keep it cold.

He may prefer keeping his empire as dependent satellites.
That does not change much.

Putin wants to be the leader of a “Great Russia.” He believes Ukrainians are Russians, basically. And Belarusians, too.

He doesn’t care what the Ukrainians think. He doesn’t care about destroying the whole country in the process.

He has the mind of a dictator…..and of most medieval kings.

I don't buy that. Here's why. Absorbing Ukraine would put NATO at the doorstep. He's trying to keep distance.

Yawn, 'YOU' DON'T Treat Human Beings And Whole Countries
As Pawns in Keeping 'Your' Power; And of Course i'm Not Suggesting

The United States Hasn't Done that in the Past; Yet Never

The Less, 'Real
Human
Beings'

With Empathy,
Compassion and
LOVE DO NOT TREAT
HUMAN BEINGS AND
WHOLE COUNTRIES AS PAWNS

IN KEEPING 'YOUR' POWER; AND THIS
IS WHY, in part, The United States Was 'Fairly' evenly
Divided in Voting support For Trump As Russian People are With Putin Now
In His Abuse of Power, Killing Innocent Human Beings in a Country; Where
Even Republican Leadership admitted Trump Then was Practically responsible for

Inciting A Deadly Insurrection, in an Attempt to Overthrow
The Precious Part of Our Existence in the United States that
Really Counts; Yes, Our Representative Democracy that Trump

DID AND STILL
DOES PUT IN
JEOPARDY NOW TOO.

And On Top of that, i Don't
Buy Your Signature Line, Hehe,
That Says You are the Undisputed
Champion of TL;DR on the 'Wrong Planet'...

If and When You Author a Thread That is
Longer Than 1.4 MiLLioN Words, i Will

Re-Consider the Evidence,

FOR OBVIOUS REASONS
WITH EXTRA LONG SMiLes...

Hehe, True, Few to no one Admits to Reading
me... Yet Views (87.2 Thousand For That Extra
Longest Solo thread Ever Here) Do Now Tend to
Somewhat Contradict What Has Often been said too...

^ Listen, man, your haiku is through.

I don't know what you mean by authoring 1.4M word thread. I don't read multi-page threads I didn't post in from the beginning and I don't read posts whole that don't express the idea in under 10 lines. I've barely made it through your post. I've seen your posts before, I don't bother with them, they make my eyes hurt.

I literally mean "too long; didn't read". I don't read people's stories.

Well Dude, Listen; If You Don't Read More than
10 Lines That likely Explains Your Ignorance
on the Issue of Ukraine and Russia;

(And The Rest of the World)

Really Though, All it Takes is

Common

Sense And
Feel of Humanity...

And i am Not Nearly Through, hehe, And
i Don't Do Any 'Form' of Poetry Now Either; i Am
'Strictly Essence'; And i Sure as Hell Ain't Buying You...

Your Callous, Overall Attitude, Toward The Folks Dying in Ukraine

Is Not
'Welcome'
in 'my Country', Either...

Yawn, Yet i'm Willing to Read it;
As Unlike Most Folks, i Read 20
Times Faster Than 'Average Humans' When Properly in Flow and Focused...

Or it’s a bad side effect of the Sputnik vaccine. The Russians like doping so he probably took all kinds of experimental weird anti-Covid drugs and now has Mad Cow disease.

Most medieval kings could rely on their nobles continuing to support them. If they did not do anything foolish, they did not have neighbouring kings constantly threatening to shame their nobles into overthrowing them and raising the shame campaign any time.

We should have nipped this in the bud the minute Yushchenko was dioxined.

Putin operates from a position of strength. He is labelled narcissistic and self-absorbed but he's no fool (if you like he;s no Trump). You don't run an agency like the KGB based on hunches or risks. He's a calculating fellow.

He runs Russia with an iron fist. He controls the oligarchs (indeed he's the biggest one) who also run the Russian mafia with its international tentacles.

As with China's Xi Jinping he's a strongman and unless there is an internal revolution he can't be dislodged externally.

Medieval kings didn't have national security agencies, bots or nuclear weapons.
