Police caught the gang with several bottles of liquid fat supposedly priced on the black market at $60,000 a gallon......

The part about selling the fat hardly seems credible. Who would want to pay that much for the fat, and why? It would certainly not be sterile, and therefore of no medical use, and every other possible use has readily available substitutes like lard or vegetable oil.

They agree about the credibility part but they did confiscate a bottle that was confirmed to contain human fat. Maybe these guys really thought there was a market for it and committed the murders. What an ignoble way to go, hung upside down to drain fat from your neck stump.

Sixty Thousand a gallon? Philosopher's Stone wouldn't be worth that much.

It makes more sense that the fat would be used to make candles, for ritual magickal ceremonies of the dark kind.

Speaking of which, have you seen or read Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk?
I've never read it but have read some other of Chuck P.'s books.
I'm wondering if the book ends with same explanation that the movie did, which I thought was unnecessary and cumbersome.

My son has seen the movie. I could get the book out of the library. I googled "fight club" but I am not yet seeing the connection with "long pig" fat. :?

In fight club they stole human fat from some cosmetic doctors dumpers and make it in to soap and sold it back to the same sort of woman that had it sucked out in the frist place with out said ladys know were it came from. Yuck... I'm thinking this fat being gathered in the way that it was must have been being used for some sort of black magic I can't see a doctor using something sold to them by peruvian thugs.

Sometime ago I read a short story called "Lipidleggin' " in a Sci-Fi Anthology called Survival of Freedom.
