DoJ is only selectively complying with FOIA requests

Apparently if you're a leftist or well connected to Democrats you get service in a matter of days.

If it is from people Democrats don't like it takes monthes if they even bother replying at all.

Though one of the people they gave the runaround is now in charge of the DoJ's budget thanks to the 2010 elections. This promises to be entertaining.

There is likely no area where governments (of every political stripe) abuse their authority more than they do in providing access to information.

I think the author is being somewhat misty eyed in his reminiscence of compliance during the Bush era, when no doubt the same abuses were practiced on the same scale as they have by every administration since access to information was forcibly shoved down the government's unwilling throat. One example of compliance does not a pattern make.

But his basic point is one that should concern everyone. No administration, whether Democrat, Republican, Liberal or Conservative should be able to exercise political influence over the administration of the government's access to information obligations.
