Yeah another reason for me to hate on black and white thinkers, it can cause them to do crimes.

Actually I don't buy it because lot of black and white thinkers don't commit crimes. I think B&W thinking would keep them from doing one.

When I was a teen I seriously gave some thought to an incredibly dark thought I possessed at the time. If I'd went through with it I would've done some serious time in prison. The thought occupied me for years but I eventually let it go. One of the things I do - we aspies do - is "lock" in our focus on whatever interests us at the time. If James Holmes is an aspie, I could definitely see him "lock" in his special interest and was devout in its horrendous conclusion. Yes, he could've been me. I guess I didn't go through with mine because I was dirt poor and couldn't afford the materials like Holmes. What's scary, of course, is there are lots of us out there, and lots of James Holmeses as well.

I had a lot of anger too when I was younger.... that coupled with testosterone could easily make more disgruntled aspie murderers.

US college campus's look like a horrendous NT nightmare... from my NZ aspie distance....

Actually they're thinking schizophrenia or multiple personality disorder. It's possible that he has some sort of brain tumor pressing on a part of his brain that either aides or inhibits hormone production, as is sometimes the case with mass murderers.

EDIT: As for other aspies going nuts and killing lots of people? A lot of people say they WOULD do something but they wouldn't. Like when people say, "I'm going to kill myself" and are later caught climbing down from the roof of a ten-story building. 90% of the population has inhibitions, and most of the people who do something anyways seriously regret it after starting [before consequences]. Personally, I'm considered to be a deadly weapon and I can break a brick about the size of the dictionary with my off hand. [You get a black belt card and everything. It's pretty sweet.] If I wanted to, I could seriously, even mortally, injure some of these kids who are bullying me. I don't, I want to, but I won't do that to anyone unless I am attacked. I can't say everyone is like that and I won't. But you don't know if you'd do something until you have the opportunity at every spur of the moment.

So stop with the "I'd be a mass murderer given the chance."

This does not equate to being a sociopath.

ADHD is far more commonly seen as sociopathic

Prisons are full of ADHDers.... sorry guys

Aspies may have meltdown rage crime, traffic crime via sensory issues etc, and spree shooting crime

maybe porn crime too if they fixate on children

too creepy crime.... too quiet crime... crimes against socialisation

Everything except the bolded seems like guesswork.

Yeah, the guy's an idiot.

There are different types of murderers. When we are talking about these mass unexpected murderers it is often quiet people or psychotic people or depressed people who have snapped (otherwise people would have seen it coming and it wouldn't seem so "mysterious") but serial killers who kill for sadistic reasons. Most crimes are committed by psychopaths.

There is a difference between being angry or lonely or depressed and having the desire to kill people. I don't think there is any direct correlation.

And if he has asperger's so what? That is not an excuse. There are people with asperger's who are bad people just the same as there are non-asperger's people who are bad. Who cares if he has aspergers? He will still be convicted.

Never mind. I thought this was about the recent shooting.

were you directing that comment at me or someone else?

''The main cause of insulting, rude, bullying and otherwise insensitive behaviour, is due to that individual being lost in their own abstract reality they've created for themselves in their heads (IMO). In their head it makes sense, and they actually believe that the nasty behaviour will a serve a purpose and is proportional - at least in that moment they do. The vast majority of people are lost, completely or in part, in such non-realities. ''

No, I'm sorry. I should have been more specific.

I was talking about guy in the video. I really shouldn't have called him an idiot either but I think we can all agree that we don't want to be looked upon as criminals.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Only clear statistics can say anything about that. I think the causes of criminal behavior lies elsewhere.
