First Lance Armstrong, now this? How sad! I guess he was getting up there, being 82 and all. RIP.

Enough time has passed that what he did has lost it's power to amaze people. A shame, I think. The man walked on the damn moon, it doesn't get much more awe-inspiring than that.

I'm not American, but of course I recognise the achievement he was part of. It is sad that the significance of his works seems to have dwindled in recent years. I respect his accomplishments both in space and on Earth

Thanks for that link, richie. So good that the Mars Curiosity mission happened before Neil's death so he knew. RIP, Neil Armstrong - you were truly a pioneer :star:

He was the first to step foot on the moon and explore that mystery, and now he will be exploring the ultimate mystery.
RIP Neil.

RIP Neil. I was just a kid, but I have never lost the amazement, pride, & thrill of exploration you inspired. Even though I must only walk on mars through the camera lenses of robots, its you I think of most when I view these pics. May that small step yet have followers.. even now, when it seems the USA has lost its drive for manned exploration, your accomplishment will remain.

Sincerely,
Matthew
