Dec. 22, ISON the World Ender has been spotted out by Jupiter.

It is the largest body on a comet orbit ever seen. It will be bigger than the Great Daylight Comet of 1680, and it will come within 40 million miles of Earth. Or closer, as this is math speculation.

Another of The Great Comets comes in March. Tis the Season.

No one plotted 1680, but some later said thousands of years, so it would be early.

The Mayans and Sumarians said a big one every 26,000 years, and there are mile wide craters going way back, on a 26,000 year cycle.

On the Planetary Plane, will spend about five months inside Earth orbit. Far side of the Sun in November, when it comes out much larger.

They neglected to say if it makes its near pass of Earth coming in or going out. They also neglected to say if it would pass before or after us in orbit.

At almost 70,000 mph, 2,000,000 miles a day Earth speed, if it passes before us we will pass through the comet tail in twenty days.

All of this math is early guesses, one thing is it passes very close to the Sun, 750,000 to 1.5 million miles, and within 40 million miles, is another guess, but it seems we are going to be close.

Not only the Great Daylight Comet, but the metor showers following are going to be fantastic for hundreds of years. Brighter than the Full Moon!

2013, the year we learned a lot more about comets.

Mayan Kung Fu is the best!

The distance between the Earth and the Moon is about 238,900 miles.

40,000,000 miles divided by 238,900 miles is about 167 and a half.

This means that the comet will pass the Earth at a distance that is nearly 170 times further away than the Moon's orbit.

At that distance, even the tail of the comet is too thin to have any effect on the Earth.

The Mayans and the Sumerians had neither the maths nor the understanding of orbital mechanics.

There is nothing to worry about regarding "Ancient Prophesies".

Nothing more to see here, folks.

Move along.

Wait, would we be able to see the comet? Seeing a comet would be awesome. :D

From what I have read this comet will probably outshine the full moon.

I find it truly pathetic that anyone was stupid enough believe this unfounded, discredited theory.

The Myth of Comets?

The Chinese called them Dragons, and said they sometimes set the earth on fire.

The Sumarians said a big one, The God Marduk, came and destroyed the earth every 26,000 years, and there is a mile wide crater in Mauritania, 26,000 years old, Barringer in Arizona, 52,000 years, another in India, and the cycle can be traced back to the Salt Pan Crater in South Africa, 230,000 years ago.

Not only is there mile wide evidence, there seems a total shortage of impacts not on the 26,000 years cycle.

The Comet of 1680 was shown in woodcuts as covering the whole sky, for months, and was bright as the full moon, and visable during the day time. There was also rains of stones.

The Mayan Long Count is 5200 years, and five of those, 26,000.

Spotted out past Jupiter, about as soon as we ever see one, actual size cannot be measured, they just start reflecting light as they pass the Gas Giants. It's course is easier to plot.

Reports say, it is the largest ever seen. but to get a fix on size, you have to know distance,

The Sumarians said it was as large as a planet, but I take that as how Venus is seen. As large as the Wandering Stars.

Our main metor showers are the rubble left behind by small comets, They shed, some stops, some fragments continue to move, and if it passes before us, we will pass through the tail in twenty days, and there could be a freight train of rock following it.

A large comet is ten to fifteen miles across. so at the current distance, hard to measure.

But we will get front row seats when it passes in full glory 40 million miles away.

One thing seems universal, all of the ancestors said comets were bad news, ill omens, the wrath of god, punishment of the earth, and were viewed with dread. They were also credited with bringing new disease to the world. Comet Plagues.

When we pass through the tail at right angles, just a mile wide rock following it can change this planet. It would be very fast, and come straight down. The craters on the 26,000 cycle are all round.

I for one am looking for a dark place, high up, a front row seat.

It may not be the big one, as another large comet is coming in March, but if it lives up to 1680, it will be the greatest light show in hundreds or thousands of years.

I am also waiting for the New Madrid Quake, which is a 200 year cycle that is overdue, one of the biggest quakes, tears the earth asunder, causes the Mississippi to run backward and have waterfalls, and with after shocks, lasts several years. It could be a 9.0.

Lighten up, the Earth, Solar System, and likely the Universe, is trying to kill you. Besides which, it is not like you have a choice.

There is no threat from mythology, except in the minds of the ignorant.
