I feel very sad for those hostages. Why pick a Chocolate Café? Its pure terror tactics that targets civilians.

I'm puzzled by the terrorist's demand for an ISIS flag. Flags are extremely portable; why didn't he just bring one with him? He sounds like an idiot. As well as, you know, a horrible person.

My first reaction was to think that Marine Corps General Mattis must have had men like this gunman in mind when he said:

I-SiSiege topic

Thankfully, this incident is now finished, according to the website provided by the thread author. Unfortunately, this is what terrorism is about, striking against innocent people, and tarnishing a largely blameless ethnic group. :x

Yes, they stormed the Café. But two are reported dead (1 the terrorist) and maybe 5 went to hospital injured. Info is not totally sure at the moment.

The terrorist is said to be a lone wolf, an immigrant Iranian, with a long criminal history and was currently out on bail. His Ex lawyer, is also trying to paint him as mentally imbalanced.

There is a pattern. People leave the Islamic countries, or I should say often flee them, seeking a better life. But once in the new country which is not of their culture, they become isolated and disaffected. Eventually they get a case of the F*** Its and decide, for lack of anything better to do, go out with a bang and become a heroic martyr and infamous villain (depending on your point of view).

But really they are just losers who can't stand losing while others succeed. But rather then just take their ball and go home, they blow up the playing field and everyone on it. For all practical purposes insane pawns to be played.

I hope dirka dirka had a Category A/B license for that shotgun (wait, was it sawn off? That's illegal!).

The anti-Islamic comments in this thread are disgusting.

The cafe is opposite to a news studio and the terrorist wanted press coverage. There are a few different views about the gun man. There's the official media story that says he was a lone gun man, self-appointed cleric who had a history of run-ins with the law, the other says it's a set up.

So, at the moment I don't know if this is for real or just a set up. I didn't believe to foiled terrorist plot to behead a kidnapped person in Martin Place, which is where this siege took place.

Some say he was in opposition to ISIS and wanted to set them up and make things worse for them.

My initial worrying thoughts was that he wanted to make a video of a beheading. Also his bag had a shotgun in it, and may have had a bomb.
It's interesting how the media never mentioned anything about the four bombs that were mentioned in the videos and Facebook posts by hostages. They did get a gag order by police but it's over now so they may as well say something.

So what?

If Islamists (and their sympathizers) want to have nothing disgusting said about them, then they should do nothing that could be perceived as disgusting.

Things like beheading people for being westerners, kidnapping young girls and forcing them to marry old men (or selling them into slavery), blowing themselves up in crowded marketplaces, and flying planes into buildings.

It's just that simple.

It's obvious it was a conspiracy.

Between channel 7 (Media - slow news day and they were on the scene), the local florists (who wanted to sell lots of flowers) and Lindt (who wanted to get some press coverage for their name and products just before Christmas).

Now there's ten million pollies and "experts" talking about and dissecting the event, all just to get their sound-bite on the news. Hell, it was just one f*ckwit with a gun - end of story. We don't need MI5, the CIA and ASIO going into panic mode.
