Home schooling works.

I've been threatened with arrest for going to class...BY MY OWN FAMILY!

As for this kid, are there any areas of the US where ASD kids are accepted as they are and where this kid can feel safe?

This was obviously a case of the principle and the cop overreacting, but I seriously don't think this incident should indict the whole public school system. My daughter is autistic, attends a special ed class for autistic kids in a public school, and I don't believe there would be this kind of reaction if a kid decided to walk out the door.

The fact that a middle school actually has a resource officer says a lot that is not flattering.
We're becoming a police state.

I do know a place in Alaska. It isn't easy or cheap to get to, easiest way is by helicopter. Population 1300~

If there were, it would be too expensive to be considerable to the parents.

We really need to develop a network of Aspie 'black sites' where reprobate oppressors such as this principal and school resource officer can be extra-judicially renditioned and subjected to aversives until they correctly model appropriate, pro-autistic behavior.

I've been working on a blacklist for boycott sakes. I guess I could create a blog page used for a black list as a temporary measure.

I myself have dealt with the insanities of Virginian Education and this story seriously pisses me off...

Rhody, would you like to help run it?

So, if anyone could find the names of the school administration and the court officials...
Just PM me.

I hate seeing reports like this...

In southeastern Virginia, for instance, a 12-year-old girl was charged earlier this year with four misdemeanors — including obstruction of justice for “clenching her fist” at a school cop who intervened in a school fight. SHe went to pick up her cousin at an elementary school, saw a fight and pulled her cousin out of it and when a school cop grabbed her she swore. The cop charged her with obstruction of justice for clenching her first, along with trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

In Green County, Virginia, last October, a school cop handcuffed a 4-year-old who was throwing blocks and kicking at teachers and drove him to a sheriff’s department.

A witness heard screaming and looked inside a classroom to see a 13-year-old Autistic student being chased by a teacher’s assistant, who then struck the child several times with a push pin. The assistant used a cleaning wipe on the puncture wounds, causing more pain to the student. A teacher told the assistant to say the tack marks were bug bites.

90% of these poor kids are booked for misdemeanor charges, such as disorderly conduct, use of public profanity, disrespect, and fighting.

Dill, David - the name I came up with for the resource officer who actually arrested Kayleb.
Scarborough, Derrick - The Principal

Yeah, what makes you competent to teach children??? My father was a certified teacher and even he said he wasn't qualified to teach outside of his specialty...

Home schooling more and more is used by parents who don't want their children exposed to the "godless evils" of socialism, evolution, and racial equality. In other words, the home schooling curriculum is pretty low browed to say the least.

I was home schooled at one point, and that was definitely not my experience. I've grown to be a rather open-minded person who takes issue when people don't treat others with respect, regardless of what they believe or lack thereof.
