Jeb Bush just announced that he is throwing in the towel.

Its now between Rubio, Trump, and Cruz ( an unknown quantity, a loose cannon, and an extremist).

I guess its also the end of the road for the middle-of-the-road of the GOP!

Indeed. The conservative stance of Ted Cruz is a known quantity, but Marco Rubio has been somewhat successful at portraying himself as a moderate candidate so far. He is, however, much more conservative than Jeb Bush on many policy issues, and as the number of GOP candidates dwindles he will likely be confronted by this more frequently from now on.

The Bush dynasty was mortally wounded in Iraq and killed off by the "Great Recession".

The only way they can win is to be more liberal than the Dems. If their vision is anything short of a giant hippie commune, they're toast.

Had Trump not been a spoiler and run, I think Bush would still be in the race, and probably doing a lot better than he had done in real life.

You have a point. I am mostly disappointed because the more centrist candidates from both parties have been pushed aside. The GOP snubbed Jeb, Pataki, and Christie, Kasich is hanging by a thread, and Gilmore never stood a chance. Likewise, the Dems threw Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee under the bus, and nobody outside of Harvard Law School had even heard of Lawrence Lessig. The ideological purists will call them "RINO" or "DINO", but the only name I can call them is "highly electable".

Also, the centrists dispel the stereotypes of both parties and prove there is something in between "Bible-thumping corporate shill" and "godless socialist."

Well. I kind of agree with you and I kind of don't. I think Jeb has a likable personality and wouldn't have looked so weak if Trump hadn't started bullying him. But I think his last name is what really sunk him. The Bush dynasty will come back, maybe in the next generation.

Does anyone here watch the Today Show? Jenna Bush Hagar started out as a correspondent on there as awkward as the rest of them, but she's gotten pretty good at it.

Anybody in the Republican field is more suitable for the nomination than Trump, Cruz, and Rubio.

A 100-pound sack of fertilizer would be better than Trump, Cruz, or Rubio.

Well, that settles it. If we can't have Bernie, let's have a 100 lbs sack of fertilizer!

Our candidate will never bow to foreign leaders; nor will he engage in pointless military adventures. He is not to be found in the pockets of corporate bigwigs, but is a trusted friend of ordinary homeowners. Most of all, he has a proven track record of stimulating growth. America needs a 100-pound sack of fertilizer in the White House!

^^The voters are responding to fertilizer sack's quiet confidence. He keeps his own counsel, and won't be rushed.
