Why so serious?

I've been hearing about these for years on paranormal podcasts etc.

Sooner or later one of them's going to get shot. Honestly surprised it hasn't happened somewhere in the US already :|

What concerns me is that not everyone is mentally or physically able to shrug off being jumped out at, chased by or threatened by one of these clowns.

There are people with not only mental and emotional fragilities such as anxiety disorder and more, and there are people with heart conditions or weaknesses.

Someone with a bad heart could die from one of these encounters.

Yet another good thing ruined by bad people, is anything not tainted?

Put on a costume and you distance yourself from limitations that little bit, some of them may be too unhinged already to handle the responsibility of becoming a snarling clown... :jester:

This is all true. Honestly, popping out and scaring people in a creepy-clown outfit sounds fun as hell, but I'm against doing it where it's mostly being done. You stand a pretty good chance at harming someone who faces an anxiety disorder or a heart condition if you're just doing it on a regular residential/commercial street.

You could sign up to work for the local haunted hayride or similar, to do the same thing and mostly harm-free.

Weve had trouble in th uk. 2 worst examples:

-clown jumped out and scared a pregnant woman into labour making give birth early

- two clown in black vans tried to lure 2 young girls into the van as they walked to school.

I know it's mostly harmless banter but some are using it as an excuse to really cause issues

Edit: forgot clowns running round with machetes accidentally slicing a man's fingers leaving him unable to work due to loss of function

Honestly, it's left me genuinely scared.

I have no fear of clowns, but I am not made of strong enough stuff to handle seeing someone watching me in the dark (or even the daylight), or even staring in my window as some have been reported doing.

I have been in a situation before where my husband left through the front door of our house, early morning when it was dark. I was with my daughter in the kitchen. He went around to the back garden, stood at the back door and stared in. He intended it to be a joke. I took something from the fridge, turned and saw someone staring in my window. I didn't comprehend immediately that it was my husband. I panicked. I quickly worked out that it was him, but the stress had already been too much. I genuinely fell to the floor and curled up in a ball, crying so much. It sounds ridiculous. But in that moment when I thought there was a stranger looking in through my window, my whole body was on maximum alert. I don't believe I'd have curled up and cried unless I worked out that it was him - I had my child to protect and curling up would not have helped the situation one bit - but honestly I don't know what that would have done to me and I am genuinely petrified of the idea of it ever happening.

I have also changed my routes for cycling at night, to avoid badly lit roads. I'm sticking to the main roads because I'm scared of coming across a clown at night.

I've always felt quite safe out and about, even in the dark, but this has definitely made me rethink how vulnerable I might be when out in the dark - clown or no clown.

A lot of these clowns have taken to using weapons, as well. I would not even want to try to defend myself against an idiot with a knife. I know that anonymity and being included in a 'group' of other people doing the same will give these people a sense of invincibility and will encourage them to do things that they might not usually do - and people are violent and antisocial enough as it is, so they don't need the mob mentality taking things further.

So will they be arresting kids in clown costumes on Halloween night?

Looks like jails are going to be crowded full of creepy clown kids and jack lanterns?

I am around kids, who can handle snakes, split wood, and shoot, under close supervision.

We have discussed the difference between a bad clown and a good clown.

That's right. A clown in the woods? No doubt he is on his way to a benefit for disabled children...
