F.B.I. Raids Office of Trump’s Longtime Lawyer Michael Cohen

Quote:
The F.B.I. on Monday raided the office of President Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, Michael D. Cohen, seizing records related to several topics including payments to a pornographic-film actress.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan obtained the search warrant after receiving a referral from the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, according to Mr. Cohen’s lawyer, who called the search “completely inappropriate and unnecessary.” The search does not appear to be directly related to Mr. Mueller’s investigation, but likely resulted from information he had uncovered and gave to prosecutors in New York.

Who does Trump turn to if his lawyer is indicted? I've read lawyers avoid him like the plague, as he shoots his stupid mouth off against advice, and welches on his lawyer bills. Not a lot of good legal representation in his future, methinks.

So can the FBI raid the White House?

Looks like he'll have to get a public defender.

Not disputing that but I'm genuinely curious how many loopholes are available to the guy who controls so many private assets along with the presidency. Obviously he too is a federal subject but I'd be very surprised if Trump realizes or would ever acknowledge as much.

"We'll see what happens~" would seem to be Trumpian shorthand for things we won't see happening.

I thought that was only for poor people.

More importantly how are we going to choose just one hotel as the new Watergate?

I suppose it could theoretically apply if no amount of Trump's money is sufficient to retain a legal defense but he'll probably just keep burning through those willing to gamble on him. UScourts.gov states that anyone unable to retain counsel is eligible; if enough of his lawyers are fired or bail, I suppose a federal judge could appoint public defense.
